Heat-ed rant (ひと vs ひ mnemonic)

So, I’ve been slowly trudging along the lessons and already arrived at one annoyance that makes learning more difficult - constant heat problem! For some reason WK team decided to use heat mnemonic for two sounds/readings: ひと and short and while it’s a nice mnemonic - gosh, the number of times I confused (ひと) with / (ひと) is beyond imagination (yes, I’ve done it again, which prompted this message ^__^"

At any rate - are there any sane ways to distinguish different kind of heat ( ) or other mnemonics that could be used to differentiate those better?

Is Wanikani your only resource? No need to rush with grammar but it might make the easier words actually easy. Mainly because you’re going to see them a lot

No only but I would say main. I use marumori & Genki, but the progress with the latter two is abysmally slow (though I didn’t plan on blazing fast speed from the start)

Are you familiar with Hirohito? He was the emperor but deep down he was a person line any other.

Thanks for the feedback! We’re currently in the process of standardising keywords for the mnemonics, but I’ll let the team about this specific case to see if they’d like to prioritise it.

Not really but I ended up using more “HIT” (somebody) in this case instead of “heat”. IMHO works better with person and others are more heat related

Thanks! though not sure if it needs to be prioritised  it’s nice to know that you are working on more standard keyword <3
