Haven't been studying for over 6 months what should I do?

It’s been well over 6 months since I last studied. I was on Level 16 when I left off. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? Should I start back over or try to do reviews to refresh my memory? The problem is the current level reviews are going to keep stacking. Is there a way around that? I think I read you can adjust the amount of lessons you get per day before but I don’t remember how.

Lol I feel like we get this question at least once a week but welcome back.

Here’s the short and sweet of how to get back into your studies:

  1. Do not do any WaniKani lessons until you’ve whittled your daily review count to a manageable amount, for me that’s below 100 or ~20min in the morning.

  2. Do your WaniKani reviews everyday, and set a target to whatever is manageable for you. As I explained in step 1, the target can be either total number of reviews or minutes/hours per day.

  3. Target a set minimum of minutes or hours per days for active study (textbook, tutoring, classes, grammar lessons, etc.) or immersion (watching a show, reading manga/books/news, listening to music or podcasts, etc.)

Nothing to it but to do it. Only quitters fail. :cat_with_wry_smile:

Definitely do as @catwithcookiesandtea suggested! BUT, here’s the rub, as you try to reduce your backlog, new reviews will continue to pop up!!!

If you can stay ahead of the new reviews and bring your total reviews down, then fine. But, if you can’t or if it’s going to take too long, then simply do reviews and immediately go on vacation mode. When you’re ready to do more reviews, deactivate VM, do reviews and reactivate VM…and repeat as necessary. Good Luck!
