Since there is a issue with 殺人. How about it’s a person with the trait of having been killed? But I guess that could also be upsetting to someone because maybe it could be referencing the 害者. lol

This was pretty helpful even if just for separating the two from one another in my head.
I’ve actually noticed that I can usually guess the reading of a new vocab with 人 correctly just by saying it with にん and じん and seeing which sounds better. I had also noticed that にん was often paired with reading’s without dakuten
