Fun Japanese Music for Listening Practice

You can either love or hate this one. First listen I was like “wtf” but then got super into it. It is really fun to sing along if you do like it

I’ve just started a pet project that fits that forum and I think you may like it.

This is the song “In the rain - TORi version” with wanikani friendly “aids”.

It’s intended for listening and reading practice. And why not? to sing along if you feel like it.

I like singing Hoshino Gen (星野源)and AniSongs are good because more than likely you’ve listened to those songs multiple times. I like 乃木坂46 but those songs can be hard if you’re not used to producing Japanese. Baby Metal can be simple but some songs are pretty hard to sing because of the speed.

Ado is really popular right now, especially with kids.

Super obscure recommendation coming in!

I love ANTENA. They’re a quite small band, to be completely honest they’re very hard to even find on youtube due to the somewhat generic name and low views, however I really can not recommend their music enough. You can not be sad while listening to their music, it feels like a fresh breeze gently blowing in you face.

My favourite songs by them are あなたが眠るまで

and ずっとベイビー which can not even be found on youtube

I love recommending small bands and artists, I hope I could get at least one new person to give them a try!

Well done for not putting your work below pachinko today ==> … for prioritizing work over pachinko ?

Ah you’re probably right… didn’t even think of that. The pause between いか and ない throwing me off!

So something like, It’d be good if you didn’t go pachinko (after?) work today

I am just going through this whole thread again and I have to say thank you for this reco; I love these two songs and I’m going to take some time with all of Antena’s stuff. Thanks for bringing them to me!

They’re a little bit harder rock than the songs linked up top, but GO!GO!7188 are pretty fun (now defunct).
