Free website teaching grammar, vocabulary and both reading and writing kana & kanji, with exercises using an SRS

Dear beings,

while you are waiting for your next review, I advise you to check out Elon.io, it’s a fully free website containing lessons on Japanese grammar, kana and kanji.

Each lesson contains some exercises which can be of several types:

  • Reading hiragana/katakana/kanji
  • Writing hiragana/katakana/kanji
  • Translation of a word or sentence from English into Japanese

The exercises are repeated using a spaced repetition system such that you can focus on the exercises you are worst at, while at the same time never forgetting what you have learned.

In case you have any suggestions for improvements, please let me know.

I’ve tried. It uses a different romanization than Hepburn in order to have a one-on-one mapping between the romanization and the hiragana so watashi is Watasi etc.
Felt weird.

Hi @Chopper,

thank you for trying it out.

In case you are used to Hepburn, you can easily switch to it by clicking on “Hepburn romanization” at the top, as you can see in the image below.

Nihon-shiki romanization

Hepburn romanization

You’ve updated the SRS system. Very cool. I’ll give it another try.
