That particular week is bad for me bc I’ll be on vacation, but honestly I’ll be home before week 2 and probably won’t even be behind.. given a choice I’d like to start the next week, but the start date won’t change my participation either way.
Same boat for me. I’m out of town that week, so would prefer starting one week later (selfishly). 
For what it’s worth I’ve voted for June, but I won’t complain if there’s a delay until July. I can use the time to keep up with other clubs (need to properly catch up with the Mother 2 one)

Let’s start on the 4th of July. This may or may not be foreshadowing for the plot of FF4.

I decided to play it safe, maybe some people would want more time.
Darn, 4 weeks wait just feels like such a long time. I’m also American (idk if others) and that weekend always sucks lol. Not sure if anyone else feels the same tho.

Just a note for next time, but making these types of polls multiselect is usually a good idea. I like two options, but now I have to weigh which one is more likely to win when voting.
I specifically made it single selection for this reason, I thought it would give me clearer results, although looking at the current tally it may have backfired…
I think ranked votes might have been the best choice but the UI is always a bit crap for that on Discourse and I worried that people would get confused.
Goooooddaaaammit. There’s a Mother 2 club? I started playing it in JP a few months ago but I didn’t have time to keep up with it and all the other clubs and my regular life. I STILL don’t have time, probably.
I’m still trying to keep ahead on preplay. An extra month should let me get through at least 75% of the game, I hope.
I’ll let the poll run a bit longer but given that June 27th and July 4th are the most popular options, and given the constraint expressed above, I’m thinking of starting on June 27th but post Week 1 and Week 2 at the same time, this way people can decide how they want to pace themselves.
Then Week 3 continues normally on July 11.
I’m not finished yet, but if you use Bunpro and want to get started, I’ve got the first few sections (900+ items) up on a private deck. I’ll send it for public review once I finish getting all the vocab in.
I’m going to jump in with the FF games in Japanese once this book club kicks off. Excited to get started!
Happy to have newcomers! I wonder how the club activity is going to evolve as we get towards more popular entries. We’ve definitely been on a downward slope since FF1 so far but that’s to be expected I suppose, those Famicom games don’t really have mass appeal.
Ok I think the poll has seen enough votes to be conclusive, so I’m going to do what I described above: I’ll post week 1 and 2 on June 27, then we continue normally with week 3 on July 11th.
I really appreciate you making these. I’ve never actually finished one (most of my Bunpro studying is for the JLPT) but I do add 3 cards every day from your decks.
I just found this book club and I’ve got to a point with my Japanese I think I can make a go of it. Kind of bummed I missed the other games since I’ve never played 1-6. In the UK (and Europe) the first mainline one we got was I think Final Fantasy 7, though some of the spin offs made it over here.
