Besides, the idea of not saving literally every time you hit the overworld is nuts to me.
The PR autosaves all the time so I tend to be lax about it, and I sometimes carry this bad habit to the Famicom version. It hasnāt bit me yet but itās only a matter of timeā¦
So weāre more than halfway now!
Week 6
Haha I was going to write the exact same paragraph, good that I read the comments first!
I tried going there without shoes, trust me, you need the shoes.
Ouch, thatās a bit sad!
Wow thatās way easier to see than in the 3D version.
I explored the first three rooms and when I didnāt see anything interesting, I left the 4th room when I saw that it was the same as the first 3 but with a single statue inside instead. Thus getting myself stuck in the game, without knowing where to go next. Eventually I went back to the room and found the passage, pfew!
Picture of me leaving the room, feeling smart
Picture of me, back in the room a few years later, feeling dumb
Oh nice catch. Even funnier, is that Or means Gold in French, so heās just called Goldgold
Ooh I ignored the piano cause dancing girl wasnāt here, need to go back and try!
Yeah I saw that too ![]()
Skipped all the controllers discussions, as I canāt really compete with my controller: ![]()

As for me, it was an easy week (expect when I found BAD ENDING 4 DIE FROM STATUES and BAD ENDING 5 DIE FROM NOT HAVING SHOES), but hey Iām from a generation that had to save Word documents manually so I basically save on the world map after each fight.
In any case thanks to all this exploring, boss fight was easy, not to mention that Iām a Viking so just taunted him for ever and received 0 damage the whole fight

Trust me you really donāt know how bad managing the inventory is on the Famicom version for this game; I was never really bothered at all about doing it in FF2, or lots of other older games with smaller inventories, but this one is a nightmare. I am currently debating if I want to plan to just never use the archer (whatever theyāre called) class in the game ever because their many arrows are eating half my space.
PROTIP:
There are shops throughout the game selling strong gear. Itās not really like FF1 or FF2 where a lot of super strong gear was only found in chests and you wanted to be careful about not getting rid of it recklessly. Outside of the legendary items found in the final dungeon, you can just sell everything you have no immediate use for. If you want to play as an archer later youāll just go to a shop and collect that.
One exception is shurikens. Theyāre useless at this point but theyāre technically OP. I only managed to hit for 9,999 once in my Pixel Remaster playthrough and it was with the shurikens. You can actually buy shurikens later so itās not the end of the world if you get rid of them, but they are extremely expensive (65k gil a pop if I recall correctly).
Chubby chocobo doesnāt help?
The problem is that you have to go find him, figure out what he has, shuffle stuff between inventories⦠Itās a lot of faffing around every time you feel like trying a new class or going shopping in a new town.
Easier to just sell and rebuy as far as Iām concerned.
By the way this is also true for spells: you can unequip and reequip spells, and sell them and rebuy them too.
Well guess whatā¦
Youāll have to wait a bit longer for Week 7 because I have to redo it from the start.
This time I survived:
More inventory management rant
One thing that I find annoying is that I donāt know what I can sell. I donāt know if weapons that I am not using now, are useful for another job that I will be first using later. And itās a bit hard to compare weaponsā stats (like, if I have 5 daggers, probably I can sell at least 3? but then I need to manually check their strength)
Also, I thought I had money problems, then I just remembered the 11 golden swords we just found, lol.
Are there inventory limitations in the 3D version? Or are you just looking to sell stuff for gil?
The second one.
Week 6
Was out of town for the past two weeks so I have a bit of catching up to do. I left the game ready to explore this brand new world we just resurrected and found it quite funny we were immediately stopped. Tried out some of the new jobs and realized that we were missing gears for some of them, so for now Iām rocking Knight, Karateka (straight upgrade of the monk basically, I love that it can charge up and hit everyone), Bard and Ranger.
Iām basically doing a no spell slot run at this point. The bard is also nice! The healing is pitiful for now but spamming it every turn still works fine, I bought the 10k harp in ć¢ć«ć . Really curious of what new songs it will get.
The boss was nothing too much difficult, the golden warriors that appear in group of 4 on the road towards him actually gave me more trouble. I found it really funny that he decided to cast Silence⦠on my bard.
Nice try, buddy, nice try.
The four old man were definitely⦠something. I think this is the wackiest moment in the game until now.
Pillars
I was feeling pretty strong exploring around the map with my party obliterating the random encounters turn 1, then I happened upon those colums and immediately understood I was not supposed to be there when two random blue panthers hit my Knight, who had shrugged off for single digit damage every non magical attack until now, for 1000 damage and oneshot him with a basic physical attack.
Didnāt even made it to those statues lol
Weāll be back laterā¦
Pillars
Same, I had to use a Chocobo to reach the statues. Of course, youāll get wiped coming back. Turns out the Famiconās statue insta-kill was a mercy.
