You know, I set up gamesavemanager for situations like this… but I’m not sure if it’s still doing regular backups. I should probably take a look.
I’m going through the final week’s script, and it is shocking how much of FF14’s story is straight up a sequel to this game. Perhaps that’s why I have so much fondness for it even with its faults. Arguably the entire first arc (through Shadowbringers) is basically FF3, with a modern retelling.

Week 10 already
First thing this week I went to get the earth crystal and the new jobs are so good. Love the 魔人 and the 導師 who are effectively upgrades on the 黒魔道士 and 白魔道士 respectively. They have interesting distributions of spell slots, with a bulge in certain levels that make them much more usable at this stage of the game. My 導師 has plenty of slots of ケアルガ and ケアルダ which kept the party healthy throughout the boss fights this week. Went and bought some new spells for my wizards now that I had money, and then I went for revenge on オーディン. Having these new fancy wizards who could use the good magic more, and the dark knight who had better magic defence, it turned out not to be too bad
I also went and did the レヴァイアサン which was fine. On the easier side even
I then went to ドーガ’s mansion and did the dungeon there - nothing to write home about really outside of the bosses. Like damn they have messed up designs. They weren’t too bad, although my 魔人 did die to ウネ and wasn’t revived in time
Finally it was time for バハムート and this fight went ok. The 魔人 did die after I got unlucky with two メガフレアs in a row, and then I spent a while trying to recover. The most annoying thing is making sure the revive goes off and then a heal happens before another メガフレア. The 魔人 ended the fight dead unfortunately
After this, as a little bonus, I did try out the 魔界幻士 with the full complement of summons. Can’t try out the level 8 one yet, don’t have any charges there, otherwise seems fun and powerful
What level are you that you don’t have any level 8 slots for your summoner? Even at level 40 you should have 1 on the Pixel Remaster according to the wiki.
Less than level 40 I guess?

I’ve become what I most feared: a filthy pre-player. Now I’m cursed with all these opinions I can’t share for 2 more days!
By the time we start FF6 half of this club’s participants will be partway through FFX
I was considering finishing my years-long English playthrough of 6 during the break between games. Does that count as filthy pre-playing?
