I will try my best, I thought we did decently well for FF2 but I certainly made some meta-comments about the structure of the game myself.
I’ll try to be extra-strict with it, you’ll tell me if it’s good enough.

I don’t agree
and it’s not just you but I don’t want to point fingers or be the spoiler police.
I might also be the only one bothered by that too. I won’t name it again, if I don’t like it I’ll just go play alone, no worries ![]()
I think it’s also that the story of these early games feel less impactful and important than later entries, the narrative is still fairly simple, characters not super well developed and events are not well foreshadowed. I think as a result I tend to foreshadow things myself to build some anticipation…
I would definitely be a lot more strict with later entries that are a lot more story-driven and competently structured.
But duly noted, I will be more careful in the future and put my pacing notes between folds.

I think I’ve completely fallen off the wagon with 2. I didn’t like the level up systems and the story was pretty meh as far as I got.. now I’m trying to decide if I want to try 3, or just join up with the club once we get to the snes era..
If you already have access to it I would recommend trying the first week, you should be able to tell fairly quickly if that’s your jam or not.
Maybe I’ll go find a rom.. I don’t know that I have it in me to play a whole game in kana, but I could try the start… ![]()
You can try the 3D version if you want a change of pace.
So according to the poll results, we will be starting FF3 on the 28.
It’s not currently on sale at the moment on any platform, but if it does, I will be notifying people here if someone wants to jump in last minute!
I’ll be playing the Pixel Remaster on Switch!
The 3D remakes are on sale on GOG.com for five more hours: -60% Final Fantasy III (3D Remake) on GOG.com.
Note for people who haven’t followed the discussion: the 3D remake follows the same general structure as the original but has a different script and it’s significantly more verbose. It’s going to be more challenging, Japanese-wise.
