I’ve been learning Japanese off and on for over a year now. After getting back from my trip to Japan i’ve decided to become more dedicated to my studies. I’ve reset my progress, and am planning to take the N4 test in december. This will by my daily log of my japanese learning journey.
My current plan:
Daily
Nihongo So Matome JLPT N4 N5
WaniKani
Some Listening, reading or writing practice
Mondays
1hr session with my japanese tutor to practice conversation
Today I finished all my WaniKani, and started Nihongo So Matome.
I’m a little confused on how i’m suppose to use these books. It has a list of 16 Kanji each day, and idk if I’m suppose to memorize that many each day or just be away of them for the questions. I’m going to just review them and keep them in mind for now. Luckily, I know all the words in todays chapter of the essential Vocab book!
Today I worked though wanikani and matome, then started trying to read though a kids book I picked up in Japan, Sky-Colored Days. I learned some new information from just the few pages I worked though. I’ll list my discoveries and translation below.
タスク (Tasks):
わにかに

Translating Sky-Colored Days Pages
Discoveries:
Adding か to the end of questions works makes them like a vague marker.
Examples:
どこか → Somewhere
なにか → Something
いつか → Sometime
どれか → Someone
がりや can be used to mark an adj as someones character trait.
Examples:
はずかしがりや → Marks the subject as someone who is shy
さみしがちや → Marks the subject as someone who gets lonely.
たい Is the conjucation for expressing desire to do something.

Been keeping the WaniKani reviews and Lessons at 0, I think i’ll level up again tomorrow.

So close to leveling, I needed 2 more Kanji and I missed them, tomorrow for sure. Busy day’s latey so just been doing the minimum of keeping my queues clear, and my matome page each day. I didn’t do well on the day 7 test so I need to do more review.
03/1/26
I’m back I kept up with wanikani, but have slacked off on Matome and will need to catch up. I spent the weekend camping out and enjoying NASCAR.

Still doing Wani multiple times a day, I finally setup a dedicated study area in my house to help me focus while i’m at home. I prefer working in coffeeshop, to help with my focus. Had tutoring on monday, and started working on the Matome Vocab with the red card to hide the answers. It’s suprising how much you actually know, when you don’t think you know much. I also started reading some tadoku graded readers.
I’m going to work on doing more translations soon I learned a lot when I did it last time and it was enjoyable.
