I was wondering what other words people use to remember the かい Kanji since Kayak doesn’t seem to work for me and I unfortunately don’t know anyone named Kai.

WK used to use coyote for かい、so, in my mind, かい is strongly associated with coyotes

A lot of kanji continue to use kayaks in their mnemonics, so you may want to just try to learn it so that it stays compatible. And you’ll probably become familiar over time since it comes up so much. I think it took me a while as well.

Maybe ‘kite’? I dunno. I also often trip up on kayak, but haven’t actually tried any other mnemonics yet.
