Did I translate this correctly?

なつわってあきになりました

“Summer is over and autumn has come.”

Also, if my translation is correct, why are we using the に particle and not が?

The translation basically fits, but it’s not literally the verb come. “turned into” fits probably more when you want to be true to the words.

So the summer is the one turning, and what you turn into with the verb naru is marked with に
