Got my Wanikani done! As well for the previous days too. Don’t know why I keep forgetting to update this.
It’s Saturday so I’m going to grab some lunch and then try to do some book club. I really need to get my grammar studied so I can try to actually fully understand sentences rather than guessing at their meaning based on the kanji.
I think I’m going to have to do something I’ve been wanting to avoid. Worksheets. Unfortunately they seem like the only way that I’m going to be able to get grammar down.
Which resource for worksheets are you going to use? I feel like I have to get some more practice at some point as well and am wondering if I could use them
So when I tried to start learning some grammar, I at first downloaded bunpo. I had thought I just misremembered the spelling. It’s a learning app that I suspect is trying to take advantage of that happening. It seemed to be on the same level as duolingo. Aka unsuitable for series learners. Bunpro on the other hand is much more series. It seems like a much more series app. With both learning and practice with the grammar you learn, I think it’s exactly what I need.
Today I was taught the な particle, which is the first grammar point that I didn’t already know. I think I understand it, but hopefully a few days of flashcards will make certain of that.
If you want more information on the な particle you can read about it on page 105; A Dictionary Of Japanese Particles : Sue A. Kawashima : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive . Someone let me know this book existed recently, and I like it a lot. It explains what the job is of the particle, if there are translations and contains examples. It has a lot of information so I currently use it mostly for lookup or when encountering a new particle, maybe it can assist you as well!
I’m going to have my lunch and then get to doing the book club. Tonight, I’ll go eat at a Japanese restaurant, which is called Kiku. I wonder if it means to work well or to hear?
It’s still the stuff I was able to pick up on my own for the most part, but it’s nice to actually practice using the grammar. I think it’s giving me a deeper understanding or how Japanese grammar works.
Apparently ます can be used as ‘but’ when it’s followed by が. The only way I’m sure I won’t forget is because it’s pretty much always at the end of a sentence otherwise.
Even though it’s particles that I understand the purpose of, I’m still getting confused by them. Probably because they don’t completely have a 1 to 1 translation.
Admittedly I did a bit less Wanikani than I had planned. I’m simply busy today in a way that doesn’t let me squeeze Wanikani in. So I did what I could at least.
To be honest, I’m thinking about not taking new lessons from bunpro for a time. The particles aren’t giving me much trouble, but the other forms of words is giving me quite a bit. Still, I’m going to take a small break and then get right onto the book club!
Would have gotten it done a lot sooner, but there was a bunch of stuff that interrupted my attempts to do it. At least I managed to do it all this time.
