THE REVOLUTIONARY TRIPLE FEATURE!!!

TRIPLE THE NUMBERS, THIRD-DEGREE BURNS, AND THREE BLIND WINS

October 22nd:

0 Lessons, 135 Reviews in WaniKani

3 Lessons in Bunpro

29 Reviews in Renshuu

A little bit light on the workload today, schedule got all mucked up so a bulk of my reviews are at 9pm now instead of throughout the day like usual, making it a bit harder to do lessons.

October 23rd:

20 Lessons and 88 Reviews in WaniKani

3 Lessons and 18 Reviews in Bunpro

1 Lesson and 29 Reviews in Renshuu

October 24th:

20 Lessons and 125 Reviews in WaniKani

3 Lessons and 6 Reviews in Bunpro

0 Lessons and 32 Reviews in Renshuu

Burned 8 items on October 22nd, 4 radicals (Meat, Say, Key, Run), and 4 vocabulary (お礼、戸口、立てる、コンビニ). Nothing on October 23rd. On the 24th, I burned 4 radicals (Scooter, Not, Blue, Village), 3 kanji (光、来、色), and 6 vocabulary words (正しい、百万、子犬、上がる、いいえ、右手). This brings us to a total of 21 items across the three days.

I took some time today to figure out a more realistic note taking method. From here on, I’m going to take notes on kanji and vocab that I make mistakes on, notating what mistake I’m making. This should (hopefully) improve my retention overall, as I’m noticing that I’m making more mistakes (which makes sense since my lesson rate has increased).

Mistakes Made

As with DOUBLE FEATURES, TRIPLE FEATURES will likely have inaccurate mistake data.

空間 - Reading mistake, forgot about くう

一ヶ月 - Classic mistake of がつ instead of げつ

交じる - Mistook meaning for 交わる

予 - Just よ is such a weird reading to me…for some reason.

Moustache - Got this confused for lip ring.

記 - Mistook for 記事 (which makes sense, it’s part of it) and somehow mixed the reading up to じき. Really goofed that one lol

Jammed In - I just fully forgot the name, but remembered it was part of 世界 and just guessed “World”.

受け取る - Reading mistake, forgot that 受 becomes う.

化ける - This one has become a demon, that’s for sure. As usual, I keep forgetting the ば.

午後 - Reading mistake, forgot that 後 isn’t read as ごう.

耳打ち - Reading mistake, forgot that 打 isn’t read as た.

表 - I guess it’s been too long since I’ve seen this (even though I saw it earlier this week), as I threw the おもて reading out the window and just went with ひょう which is right for the kanji, but not for the vocab.

言い方 - Typoed お言い方 instead.

話す - I guess “To Say” isn’t a reasonable meaning for this, while “To Speak” is. Hmm.

近々 - “Near” doesn’t equal “Soon”, and I picked “Near”. Oof.

要る - Reading mistake, I wrote いんる instead of いる

名人 - Classic mistake of using the ゆう reading instead of the めい reading.

弟 - Remembered the vocab reading, but not the kanji reading.

この - Bunpro and Renshuu pranked me on this one, since I’ve learned これ and それ and not この. Bleh.

解 - Mixed this one up for 語.

Sentences of the Days

I have two today. The first target is “My stance is very important [to me]!” (to me is in brackets because I genuinely have no idea how to say this…so I’ll probably have to jisho that). The second target is “I wake up and am 500 years old” (weird sentence probably).

First one: like the last time I did a sentence, I’ll break it down. “My stance” should be something like “私の立場は” since 立場 belongs to 私, and “very important” is とても大切. “to me” is basically for flavor, to show that the speaker is passionate, so I should be able to use よ for emphasis in place of it.

The full sentence could be ”私の立場はとても大切ですよ!” (are exclaimation marks common in Japanese?)

Second target: “I wake up and am 500 years old”. This one could also use よ since this is new information. “I wake up” should become 私は起きます, “500 years old” could be 五百才. Combined, the second sentence could look like: ”私は起きますと五百才ですよ。”

I double checked these with Google Translate this time. I understand this isn’t a perfect method, but I got some confirmation. The first sentence translated to “My position is very important!” according to Google, which is pretty darn close. The second sentence translated to “When I wake up, I will be 500 years old” which is a better sentence than I was hoping for.

I do enjoy breaking down creating sentences when I get time. I think I dedicated around 15 minutes to just these (which, while much slower than I want, still gives me a little confidence since I was able to figure them out). It’s almost therapeutic writing in Japanese.

Jams of the Days & Wrapping-Up

saredokijyutushihasaiwohuru by Lie and a Chameleon is the first time I’ve mentioned Lie and a Chameleon. I don’t love all of their songs, but this is one that I do. The instrumentals are insanely strong, and the lead singer’s voice fits really well with them.

Another new band to mention today, Golden Liar by BRADIO is here to party. I really like BRADIO for Flyers (if you haven’t heard it, it’s a bop. Also, watch Death Parade, you have to now). Golden Liar has a similar vibe to Flyers, but it isn’t as “grand” feeling. Golden Liar feels really down-to-earth to me. The instrumentals are simple, but the lead singer really knows how to show his range.

Lastly, an artist I’ve mentioned before: 絶対零度 by natori. I think natori is really up there with Eve, ZUTOMAYO, and The Oral Cigarettes for me (those three being my absolute favorites). He has fantastic instrumentals, I love his voice, I love the structure of his songs. This was my first exposure to him on his own, and it really delivers.

Hopefully this’ll be the last triple feature, but I wanted to get back to posting at the end of every day or in the mornings for each day, instead of posting the previous day’s Study Log almost at the end of the next day.

Well, thank you very much for stopping by! I’ll see you tomorrow! :]

Howdy. Regular one for you today, not nearly as fun as a triple feature (or as much work, I guess lol).

First, I’m going to be making a pretty notable change sometime soon. Thanks to @madikp ‘s suggestion in another thread, I’m going to start writing my sentences out on paper and posting them that way (along with my previous anecdotes). This makes me clean my desk, practice my sentencecraft, and gets me started along the path to writing. Again, big thanks to @madikp for the idea. This means you can now make fun of my handwriting!

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

141 Reviews and 20 Lessons in WaniKani

29 Reviews and 3 Lessons in Bunpro

18 Reviews and 1 Lesson in Renshuu

Burned 1 Radical (fingers), 3 kanji (王、肉、休), and 3 vocab (十六、日本、王女).

I don’t really think I made any major leaps or bounds today. The “win” is that I successfully studied across WaniKani, Bunpro, and Renshuu, which is where I want to set myself.

Mistakes Made

21 mistakes today, I’ll try to be brief!

Meet radical - forgot it was called “Meet”

Lantern radical - got it confused with “Twenty”

和 - Kanji, meaning mistake, just brain-farted.

数字 - Reading mistake, forgot the 数 is read as すう instead of かず or かぞ.

Clown radical - got it confused for “Suit”

楽 - Vocab, meaning mistake. I see this one often and think “fun” fits, but I need to continue falling back on “pleasure” instead.

社 - Meaning mistake, mistook kanji for 仕 and went with “doing”.

Lip ring radical - Well that’s awkward. Mistook for moustache.

楽しみ - Meaning mistake, just entirely forgot what it meant.

数学 - I don’t even remember what mistake I made on this one, I just made one.

具 - Reading mistake, mistook for 頁.

売 - Forgot that this was read as ばい, I’m very used to it being read as う in 売れ.

間もなく - Reading mistake, I get caught on ま instead of な for 間.

人数 - Rendaku mistake.

路 - Reading mistake, confused for 解.

妹 - NO!!! I FORGOT THIS ONE AGAIN!!! D:

映る - Reading mistake. I knew the う, but forgot the つ.

大きく - Meaning mistake, got thrown off by く in my brain denoting a “to” verb.

顔 - Meaning mistake, still baking the mnemonic into my brain.

私大 - Private school doesn’t count for this since it’s specifically private university/college -.-

最 - Still trying to wrap my head around this meaning “Most”.

Jam of the Day & Wrap-Up

“Kaiju” by sakanaction. This song is almost ethereal. The vibes are way up, the lead singer has a perfect voice for the song, and the instrumentals really fit that ethereal vibe. Also, at the end, the lead singer really gives a raw performance. A lot of the song he feels almost like he’s reflecting, or hiding, but at the end he goes all out.

Wrapping up now, no sentence due to the change in how sentences are being handled from here on out! Might take a couple of logs before written sentences start to show up!

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow! :]

I like how you take explicit note of what mistakes you made, I’ve definitely found that helpful for other things to help it stick better

Was out all day, but found my time for studying, just not at the normal times so that’s going to throw my routine out of whack for a few days.

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

15 Lessons and 125 Reviews on WaniKani

3 Lessons and 36 Reviews on Bunpro

0 Lessons and 18 Reviews on Renshuu

A whole bunch of nothing for burned today.

Non-Japanese related win, but I’ve been getting some better sleep for the first time in around 15 years or so. I got a CPAP machine at the start of this month and hopes were low, but I can actually tell I’m getting some rest now.

Mistakes Made

開ける - Reading mistake, forgot あ and instead wrote かい.

進 - Reading mistake, confused it with 集.

教わる - Reading mistake, forgot it uses おそ instead of おし.

取り出す - Just completely forgot the meaning.

物 - Confused with 場.

直行 - Reading mistake, forgot 直 is read as ちょう.

必死 - Completely forgot the meaning.

正す - I don’t remember how I mucked this one up.

教え - Confused with 考え.

会話 - Entirely forgot meaning.

象 - Confused with 像.

小声 - Wrote “small voice” which is kinda like “low voice", but only kinda.

Jam of the Day & Wrap-Up

“Humanoid” by ZUTOMAYO. Really great ZUTOMAYO song, ACA-ね’s vocals are as good as usual, but the instrumentation really gets me with this one.

Another day without a sentence, sorry! I have a bullet journal somewhere that I gotta find to get started with that whole process of writing a few sentences about my day.

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow! :]

Yesterday was a weird day, as you’ll see in my numbers. I slept for around…14 hours?

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

0 Lessons, 72 Reviews in WaniKani

I had 50 reviews and 12 Lessons I hadn’t done before I went into my 14 hour hibernation

3 Lessons, 40 Reviews in Bunpro

The first day in a while I’ve done both sessions of grammar review.

0 Lessons, 12 Reviews in Renshuu

Still nothing burned :[

No notable wins today. Didn’t get to find my bullet journal, it’s in this house somewhere I swear. I think that when I do find it, I’ll post sentences at the end of every week (weeks for me are weird, that would be every Monday as I work Tuesday-Saturday). It will be structured as a list of things I did, which means I’ll be diving into vocab I haven’t learned yet as well as a lot of improper grammar I’m sure. I think I’ll start out by writing from left to right, but I’ll throw some top to bottom ones in there too.

Mistakes Made

多分 - Reading mistake. Completely forgot that 多 is read as た

海水魚 - Forgot the on’yomi reading for 海.

私自身 - Forgot the meaning.

去年 - Absolutely did not remember what 去 meant.

不正 - Another meaning, “not correct” being “injustice” is dramatic, lol.

話す - Goofed up the meaning again…

教え - Reading mistake. Mistook it for 考え again. おしえ!!!

習う - Really struggling with this reading. There’s a lot of learning at Nara, gotta learn about the deer at Nara, look up all those deer at Nara…

入院 - Jumped the gun on the reading. Say 入, immediately said “entrance”.

役場 - Wrote “public place” instead of “public office”.

Jam of the Day & Wrap-Up

Today’s jam is クジャクジャノマアムアイア by TK from Ling tosite sigure, another fantastic suggestion by @shitsurei ! The more I listen to this album (Whose Blue), the more I really enjoy it. GRANT, Synchrome, Microwave, all great songs that really grew on me. クジャクジャノマアムアイア is definitely my favorite of the bunch, though. Give it a listen if you haven’t already!

The search for the bullet journal continues. The most mundane investigation ever conceived!

Thanks for stopping by, I’ll see you tomorrow (or tonight, even) for the next study log! :]

The hunt for the bullet journal continues. I might just buy a techo at this point. I know aiI have a bullet journal somewhere, just can’t find the darn thing. My house must’ve eaten it. Tomorrow I’m going to find a regular notebook instead and start with that. Might just be on graph paper (which will not be fun to look at probably, sorry!!)

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

20 Lessons and 163 Reviews on WaniKani. Lots of catch up from yesterday.

3 Lessons and 20 Reviews on Bunpro

0 Lessons and 18 Reviews on Renshuu

Burned 3 radicals (Beggar, Kick, Viking), 6 kanji (行、西、宝、豚、角、台), and 4 vocab (休み、二万、一回、半) for a total of 13 items burned. They will be remembered fondly.

In terms of wins, I’m proud of myself that I was able to fit in all of these lessons today just because of how much I left out from yesterday. I woke up to 70 reviews. Yikes.

Mistakes Made

映画 - Reflecting + image = movie, jumped the gun and got it confused with 像画.

県 - REALLY annoyed at myself for this one. Just extremely. I genuinely cannot believe I goofed this one. Got it confused with “to fix” and “to be fixed” but the correct kanji won’t show up even though it does on my IME (looks like this: 直 - using なお as the reading). Curious…

回す - Meaning mistake, wrote “to revolve”.

客 - Completely forgot this word.

科目 - Reading mistake, forgot that 科 is read as か.

豚肉 - Stupid mistake. Saw 豚, saw 肉, my brain really wanted 屋 in there too for a specific pork shop.

今度 - Another silly mistake. Wrote it as “every time” instead of “this time”.

丸ごと - It’s been eons since I’ve seen this word. I knew that 丸 is for circles, but didn’t consider circles being in the context of whole.

出会う- The biggest brain fart in history. I had just gotten a completely different vocab word for the reading, wrote that reading down, and I still had the meaning ready to use, so instead of actually paying attention to this word, I wrote the meaning for that one instead.

末 - Forgot the すえ reading.

音楽 - Goofed on the rendaku.

屋 - So used to the vocab of this meaning “store", which I wrote for the kanji…

下がる - “To descend” not being accepted for this kind of blows my mind.

受け取る - Reading mistake, forgot that 受 gets read as う.

皮 - Another vocab I haven’t seen in what feels like years. Just forgot the reading.

見当たる - I wrote “to find”, the answer is “to be found”. So close!

気に入る - I’ve had trouble with this one for a while. The first kanji, 気, is energy. When people have energy, it’s typically positive, so that’s where “liking” comes in I guess.

Jam of the Day + Wrap-Up

Today’s Jam is “Only Wonder” by frederic. This was the first song I listened to by frederic, and it’s still a frequent hit for me whenever it shows up in my mix.

That’s all for today, see you tomorrow! :]

I was doing the same mistakes for ages! I finally got them, but it’s nice to see someone else having trouble with them, too. I don’t feel so bad about not getting them right away.

Almost at the end of the month. This was a strange day, I felt crunched for time yet I can’t remember what crunched that time. As such, only WaniKani got any love today, and it was barely any at that.

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

145 Reviews and 5 Lessons in WaniKani

That’s it. Didn’t touch Bunpro or Renshuu. I think that I’m going to take a break from Bunpro and Renshuu lessons and focus on reviews. I’m making repeated grammar mistakes because I’m rushing through things, such as verb conjugation still being a big issue despite learning it over 2 weeks ago.

Burned 2 radicals (Ice, Feathers), 6 kanji (何、上、自、学、同、当), and 10 vocab (皮肉、今回、~回、色、豚、生きる、肉、男、火山、小皿). All will be remembered fondly.

Mistakes Made

里 - Forgot that this was hometown and not village.

週 - Mixed this up with 調.

最 - Most. I genuinely don’t know what it is with this one, but every time I see it my mind either blanks on the reading or the meaning. Most. さい. Most. さい.

役に立つ - The reading threw me off, I was expecting 役 to be げ…for some reason.

鳴く- Reading, I mixed this one up with 聞く.

正月 - Wrote しょうげつ instead.

Kiss radical - Confused this for Tombstone. Even though there’s nothing that looks like Tombstone in Kiss. Hmm.

海 - Stupid mistake, mistook this for 毎.

ほとんど - Just entirely forgot what this means. Also means most!

Jam of the Day + Wrap-Up

My weekend (Sunday and Monday) will bring back Sentence of the Day (now becoming “This Week’s Quips”) where I’ll write a sentence or two every day and share. I still haven’t purchased a notebook, but that’s changing soon! Hooray!

Today’s Jammin’ Jelly of a song is “Rapport” by Tatsuya Kitani. It’s a much different song from him, the instrumentals really shine while he keeps his vocals quick and snappy.

Thanks for stopping by, grab a drink on your way out, I have digital water, digital coffee, you know the usual. See you tomorrow! :]

It’s really nice to see this being used as a space for people to recognize that the mistakes they make aren’t unique, and that they shouldn’t feel embarrassed or ashamed of them. We’re all learning separately, but also learning together. As I continue to go down this journey, I hope my mistakes can help others recognize that their mistakes aren’t something to be ashamed of. Recognizing mistakes has helped me a lot, it forces me to remember the reading and meaning for the purposes of the log, acting as an extra study opportunity. Whether or not you keep a log, maybe keeping track of your mistakes will help you :]

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

Another day solely focused on WaniKani. Once the weekend hits I’ll be coming up with a better plan for Renshuu and Bunpro.

15 Lessons and 110 Reviews in WaniKani

Nothing burned. Womp womp :[

I’ve started reading 犬と肉~イソップ物語より mostly as a trial to see if I can handle reading yet. Obviously there are things I don’t understand yet in the few sentences I’ve read so far, but understanding what I can has felt really promising.

Mistakes Made

次々 - I made the executive decision to rendaku this even though it doesn’t get rendaku’d. Oops.

負 - I entirely forgot this meant lose. I knew that 勝負 meant match. But 負?I had no clue.

空手 - I guess I don’t like Karate. I don’t understand Sky + Hand = Karate, but I guess it does. Is Sky Uppercut in Pokemon just a really cool Karate attack in Japanese? (No, it’s just スカイアッパ)

時 - I knew じ, completely forgot とき. Birds used to be associated with time a lot. Cuckoo clocks normally have birds in them. Maybe I can remember this better with bird association.

方向 - Meaning mistake,

フランス語 - This was such a goof lol. Typed ブランド語 instead.

親 - I got this reading yesterday, but not today :[ Just gotta remember that Luigi is my parent and we’re good (one of the only things Luigi consistently says across multiple Mario games is “Oh yeah!” [おや])

運ぶ - Mixed up the お and あ sounds (ほかぶ instead of はこぶ)

Jam of the Day & Wrap-Up

Today I listened to significantly less Japanese music than I have been, I was really in the mood for Pokemon songs. My first recommendation is the Elite Four battle theme from Pokemon Black & White. Really good song for working on something! My second recommendation is “Wagamama De Gomakasanaide” by THE ORAL CIGARETTES. This recently showed up in my recommended and it’s one of my favorites of theirs for sure. The instrumentals are pretty different for them, and I really love hearing them explore different styles and ideas. Of course, the vocal performance is fantastic as usual.

That’s it for this one! Tomorrow I’ll be premiering a new, monthly tradition: just a big old numbers dump! Every day added together, including what the most mistakes were made on! Should be interesting.

Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow :]

Today, I’ll go over my usual (Numbers, Mistakes, Jam), followed by a broad overview of the entire month at the bottom. This was a pretty monumental month of Japanese learning for me!

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

118 Reviews and 0 Lessons on WaniKani

Decided not to pursue any lessons today. Wasn’t particularly strapped for time, I was more focused on reincorporating Bunpro and Renshuu reviews back into my daily routine.

29 Reviews on Bunpro

30 Reviews on Renshuu

Like I said before, Bunpro and Renshuu have been relegated to reviews only. On Sunday, I’ll figure out a game plan to handle them both much better than I have been. These reviews were much more promising than past reviews for them were, I took my time to understand what was being asked of me in order to properly answer.

Nothing burned today :[

I received a “New User of the Month” award today, that was nice to see. Not sure how that process goes, but thanks for the award!

Mistakes Made

飲 - Mistook for 鉄, I probably just looked at it too fast.

苦い - Reading mistake, wrote ながい instead of にがい.

言い方 - Reading mistake. There’s something in my mind that SWEARS 言 is おお in some universe. This is not one of them.

美しい - Missed the trailing い when inputting the reading.

助手 - Typo’d しゅ for しい and didn’t catch it.

思い出 - Forgot this specifically means “a memory” and not “remember”.

大事 - Reading mistake, took the gamble on たいじ even though I knew deep down inside my heart that it’s だいじ.

住民 - Goofed up on the 住 reading and wrote しゅう.

用事 - Meaning mistake, wrote “utilization” instead of “task”.

部 - Meaning mistake, completely forgot what it meant.

Jam of the Day

“Sayonara End Roll” by Eve is quite the departure than what I’m used to from Eve. It has a low energy for most of the song, but when he gets to the climax he hits it out of the park. The contrast between the two major parts of the song makes it great to listen to, as I’m not expecting such a massive tone shift.

End of the Month Magic

I guess that’s what this is called now, a bit better than “a big old numbers dump" like I said yesterday.

Across all of October I studied every day, for a total of 3,378 Reviews and 414 Lessons. I started the month at Level 9 and made it most of the way through Level 10. My heaviest day was the 19th with 182 Reviews and 25 Lessons, while my lightest day was the 27th with 72 Reviews and 0 Lessons.

In comparison to last month, I completed ~90% more Reviews and ~135% more Lessons in October. In September, I only completed 1770 Reviews and 176 Lessons.

Bunpro and Renshuu don’t seem to keep track of numbers in the same way that WaniKani does, so I’ll have to do a little bit better in November to keep better track of the numbers myself.

Next month I don’t plan to add any additional SRS programs to the list. I think my suite of WaniKani, Bunpro, and Renshuu should be able to push me forward fairly well. I’d like to work more on writing sentences, reading passages, and listening. I haven’t done a lot of listening (other than music, I guess that kind of counts), so I’d really like to get some listening in.

And that’s it! Here’s to (almost) an entire month of study logs, and to an additional month of study logs.

Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow for the start of November :]

November 1st and 2nd 2025 Study Log: A DOUBLE FEATURE!!

Level 11?

Starting the month off strong with a double feature lol. Off to a good start already though, as I’ve hit level 11!

Twice the Numbers, Second Degree Burns, and Maybe Two Wins?

I had a super busy day on the 1st, so studying took a bit of a backseat but I was still able to get a little bit of work done.

74 Reviews and 0 Lessons in WaniKani

Nothing done in Bunpro today, but I did a little bit of Renshuu.

30 Reviews in Renshuu

On the 2nd, I was out of the house all day. My girlfriend and I visited a local amusement park that’s closing for the season, and we did some deliveries for a little extra cash, so not a ton of time for extra study. However, I did do more WaniKani today!

88 Reviews and 15 Lessons in WaniKani

And nothing in Bunpro and Renshuu.

No burns still!

I suppose the wins for these two days was spending a weekend out of the house, which I will always appreciate, and still finding the time to fit my routine in. I am genuinely afraid that if I ever miss a day, everything’s going to fall apart and I’ll lose all motivation due to a lack of consistency.

Mistakes Made

As usual with double features, these mistakes are mostly going to be from the 2nd.

ハート形 - Wrote はーとがと instead of がた.

取り出す - Reading mistake, wrote とりです instead of とりだす.

工場 - Reading mistake, I was trapped between じょう, ば, and ぶつ. I made the wrong choice.

思い出 - Meaning mistake, wrote “remember” again.

土地 - Reading mistake, wrote どち instead of とち.

物 - Meaning mistake, wrote “location” instead of “thing”.

交代 - Entirely forgot what this means, “change”. If you have a coat tie, you should probably change. Maybe that’d work to remember.

Gladiator radical - I’ve never had issues with this radical, but I decided to today. Oops!

East radical - I was rushing and just blasted through this radical. Kinda similar to Bundle, so I immediately answered that.

要 - I still had the mnemonic of yogurt for this one, just forgot it needed the う. よgうrt!

Jams of the Days & Wrap-Up

私以外も私 by Gesu no Kiwami Otome, first time I’d heard anything from this band was on the 31st. Showed up in my recommended, listened to it, kind of got addicted honestly. It’s a fairly repetitive song, but the instrumentals are lovely.

Black Catcher by VK Blanka, this song goes hand-in-hand with Black Rover for me (learning that these are Black Clover intros makes a lot of sense to me now). Black Catcher has a much slower beginning and a bit more English. The vocal performance is great, there’s something about the lead vocalist’s pitch for most of the song that really strikes a chord with me (haha, get it? hahahahaha funny music joke).

Now, I mentioned that I would figure something out for Sentencecraft, Renshuu, and Bunpro, and I have! Every day I will be taking physical notes for Renshuu and Bunpro, using the new grammar that I learn for Sentencecraft, and looping them all together by using what I’ll be calling the “Daily Record System”. It’s an overly fancy term for what is essentially grammar notes combined with a few key points from each day. The goal is to create Japanese sentences that are relevant to what I’m learning, relevant to what happened today, and are written well enough to be understood.

Thanks for stopping by today! I’ll see you tonight for 11/3’s Study Log! :]

November 3rd 2025 Study Log

Level 11?

I’m a man of my word, although I am posting a little later than I wanted to.

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

5 Lessons and 94 Reviews in WaniKani

Now that I’ve been introduced to all Level 10 vocab, I’ll be moving on to Level 11 Lessons tomorrow!

5 Reviews in Bunpro

I had 26, tried to get them done while laying in bed and wound up taking an impromptu nap instead. Woops! Also, no Renshuu today.

Nothing burned!

Nothing really notable in terms of wins today. I had a pretty relaxed day, no major strides in studying aside from continuing down the path.

Mistakes Made

人数 - Reading mistake, wrote じんずう instead of にんずう.

化ける - Yeah this one’s back…again. That reading is just strange to me still. It wasn’t strange enough for me to get it to Guru, but it might be a minute before I get it past there.

海魚 - Missed the rendaku on さかな.

切れる - Meaning mistake, I frequently forget this means “to be cut”

見分ける - Meaning mistake. I confused this with 見当たる because my brain thought it would be funny. I saw the 見 and just immediately went on “oh I made that mistake a few days ago” mode.

明かり - Meaning mistake, thought this was “bright” not “light”

酒 - Added a trailing う that doesn’t exist.

Forehead radical - Wrote “roof”

Chinese radical - Wrote “China”

助かる - Meaning mistake, wrote “to help” but is “to be helped”.

魚屋 - Used the on’yomi ぎょ reading instead of さかな.

持つ - Completely forgot the reading.

Jam of the Day & Wrap-Up

麻痺 (まひ) by yama is the only song I’ve heard by yama and it’s been sitting in my playlist for a while now. It’s a great piece, with yama putting on a wonderful vocal performance. The instruments are super bright and punchy.

And that’s all for today! Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow for Level 11! :]

I thought (おも)() would be common in songs, just recall reading first (and correct reading), before imaging the meaning.

Or MV with real-time lyrics.

There is ()(もの) and ()かす? Anyway, just trim Okurigana to バ. Weird ばあさん.

WaniKani shouldn’t have allow this to be wrong… (or Katakana reading test? su not do)

Level 11

Got some numbers back up today. Tomorrow will begin daily writing, looking forward to it!

Today’s Numbers, Burned Items, and Wins

Just WK today. As I roll out daily writing tomorrow, Bunpro and Renshuu’s usage should pretty significantly increase.

119 Reviews and 20 Lessons in WaniKani

Getting into the thick of it with Level 11 now. My goal is to get it done in two weeks, let’s see if I can do it!

Nothing burned.

My win today was surviving my first day at work following daylight savings. Man, I hate daylight savings. It makes me so much sleepier. The drive home was brutal, it was so dark already!

Mistakes Made

回答 - I just realized while writing this that the regular answer for 答 is こた and that this is kinda similar! The vowels get swapped and you get some more friends at the party for かいとう.

研究所 - Typo’d しゃ, should’ve been しょ.

行う - Meaning mistake, wrote “to go”.

集める - The turkey sneezes (あつ sounds like a sneeze, right) while it’s collecting…

解 - I see this kanji and I immediately think ご for 語. They’re not remotely similar kanji!

末 - Reading mistake, wrote まえ.

社会 - Meaning mistake, wrote “company”.

映画 - Reading mistake, wrote えいご.

楽 - Meaning mistake. I always see this one and immediately think “fun”. I guess “pleasure” isn’t always “fun”, though.

算数 - Tried to force a rendaku on 数. I’m going to give that rendaku article another read.

終わる - Entirely forgot that しゅう becomes お.

大空 - Reading mistake, wrote たい instead of おお.

辛口 - Rendaku when I didn’t need to.

Jam of the Day & Wrap Up

Today’s Jam is a strange one. It’s one of the weirdest songs I’ve heard, the rhythm is all over the place, but I love me some good instrumentals and this has it in spades. 9番目の「?」by A crow is white is the jam. Give it a listen if you’re interested in some chaos.

That’s it for today! Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you tomorrow (or tonight if I’m feeling spry) for the first handwritten portion! :]
