Seems workable if you’re having fun! Are you having fun?
honestly no, i hate anki but everything else is chill i suppose. Karaoke and listening input are things i look forward to and anki is just a hurdle i need to overcome to reach that.
I would like to second Alonzo that having fun in the process is important. Things can be difficult (and rewarding!), but actively hating it is counterproductive. Experimentation is key, just try new things, look around on the forum and see what fits for you! I’ll give a few examples below, but it is very personal with how things stick.
Anki is kind of a hit or miss I feel like for people if it works for them. If it does not work for you try other systems and drop it if it doesn’t.
There are a lot of other resources, for example if grammer is difficult with Tokini/Genki you can something else like the guide from Tae Kim.
I am not sure what you are reading, but I cannot recommend Tadoku Readers enough. They start at a level that is very doable with only Hiragana. You can also combine your reading with vocab, which is called “mining”.
There’s not much to critique. We don’t know anything about how you study. I get that you input stuff and use genki, but there’s a lot of nuance in what you specifically do. And the only thing with a time range is input so we can’t tell how you allocate your time either.
Looks good to me. Maybe some speaking practice with a tutor might help, if you want that extra practice and can afford the cost.
The most important part is to have fun and to want it intrinsically, because otherwise you will burn out and become unhappy.
My learning process at the start was to do the Japanese from zero textbooks 1-5, wani kani, and tadoku books.
Now my learning process is to do satori intermediate x3 and wani kani.
Overall my goal is to obtain reading capability, so naturally I will have weak listening, writing, and speaking skills. Its okay. I accept the trade off. You don’t have to follow my plan, and its only here as a sample of ideas. Maybe I have ideas you want? Or maybe you have ideas I want?
i’ll try to find more input i actually enjoy in that case. Anki works for me i just don’t like it lol.
The karaoke thing for shadowing is actually really smart, I never thought about using it for French?? Shadowing along to something with lyrics on screen feels way less awkward than just repeating after a voice recording.
I’d like to third the having fun thing, I definitely experienced burnout trying to use methods that were recommended but i didn’t enjoy after a while
