Counting in Japanese

I dunno about you guys, but my listening comprehension when it comes to numbers STINKS. I can’t do the maths in ma brain.

So I made this study sheet with romaji so my non-Japanese friends can help me study. They say the number, I say the Japanese, and (thanks to the romaji) they have a rough idea of if I get it right or not.

Maybe some day they’ll get good enough to say the romaji and I can guess the number. (Fingers crossed.)

Anyway, I made this sheet cuz so many learn-how-to-count resources just show you how to build the formula, and don’t actually have all the numbers written out.

Sharing it here just in case it’s useful to anyone else.

1 - 1,000,000 written out in romaji

Apologies if there are typos.

We’ve all sucked at numbers at one point or another, but you’ll get the hang of it! Just keep on trying to find areas to incorporate more Japanese numbers into your daily routine. It can be slow and painful at first, but we all eventually get there

Yeah, there’s a couple, I’m afraid. Should be roppyaku, happyaku whenever they appear. 10,000 is ichiman, always.

Not completely sure the romaji is a great either either. It’s a bit of a crutch.

Isn’t the idea that their friends who don’t study Japanese can read it out loud to them?

More that they can read along with his answer to check if he gets it right.
