Coming back after a two month hiatus, apparently lost a lot

I had a miserable cocktail of “learning burnout” and personal life crap happen and now I’m trying to remake my habit of daily study again. Apparently I lost a lot and I’ve forgotten even stuff I burned too…

Am I supposed to keep letting SRS do its thing?

Also, I used to do like a very small review of burned items each day and now I’m finding I’ve totally forgotten some of these. Is there an easy way to revive an item I totally bombed the burn review on?

Two months-break doesn’t sound too bad to me, of course you need to go back on track now with some extra work, but I read of people taking 1-2 years break and coming back just ok. If I were you, I would just keep on going, doing at least a couple of Wanikani sessions each day to clear the review bucket, and include some immersion time in the middle (listening/reading). Good luck!

At the very bottom of am item’s page is a resurrect button:

This moves it back to apprentice 1, and you can re-burn it whenever you want. I don’t recommend resurrecting items though, the way to review burned items is through immersion.

My advice would be: Do more immersion this time, especially reading.
Just because you burned an item does not mean at all you won’t forget it anymore. It gives you a headstart and time until your brain really needs to see it again to become permanently stored so it can be recalled at any time.
You are around level 20, nearly all the Kanji you should have burned by now are constantly appearing while reading texts. Just reading and looking them up while doing that is probably more effective than relearning them on WK and also it should be more fun to do more things outside WK, like actually reading fun things in context. In my experience that also helps a lot with “learning burnout”
But then again some people seem to like SRS a lot more than anything else, so if thats what its about for you, resurrecting might do it.
