Chinese learning similar to Tofugu

This site is really useful to me, it’s somehow making sense.
Is there a way to learn Chinese in a simlar way? Right now it seems completely random. It’s made of two part words with randomly assigned phonemes and tones.
It belongs to the same family as Japanese.
Is there a program which you would recommend?

Japanese just stole the writing system and crowbarred it into a very different language. The languages themselves are quite different.
