I’ve been studying Japanese children’s songs lately, and often I can find an English translation online, but I didn’t find a translation for this one. You can listen to it here: ♪はなさかじいさん - Old Man Flower｜♪うらのはたけで ぽちがなく【日本の歌・唱歌】 - YouTube … Below is my attempt at translating it (for meaning only; it’s not trying to sound like literature in English). You’ll notice the song uses only hiragana, which made it tough to figure out the actual words being used. I did my best, though, and I think I’ve gotten it mostly right. If anyone here can suggest some fixes or improvements, please let me know

裏の畑で ポチが鳴く

正直じいさん 掘ったれば
honest grandpa if he digs
