ChatGPT vs Wanikani mnemonics

I have just past level 20 and I noticed that for at least 5 levels the quality of the mnemonics, especially the meaning mnemonics, have not been so great and funny as in the first levels.

As an experiment, I took the quite boring mnemonic of 派…

…and asked ChatGPT to produce a short mnemonic with the same words:

I don’t know you but to me such mnemonic is much more impactful and interesting to read than the original one. Would it be maybe a stupid idea to flag the so called “boring” mnemonics and rework them with AI? Of course I’m not suggesting to rewrite them all, but a good number of them could be improved.

I use WaniKani’s mnemonics as a suggestion but tend to try to make my own that incorporates both the reading and meaning because I’m too lazy to remember two mnemonics per kanji. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using ChatGPT for inspiration, it just takes time to do so.

Use whatever mnemonics work for you. Of course WK can’t come up with mnemonics that work for everyone.

Yes, like for me. I’m French, so i never really read the mnemonics
I translate the word in french and try to remenber it with reference i had.
