Can someone ELI5 how the Wanikani SRS system works?

How does WaniKani know when my next review should be? How does it know how many cards should be in that review, and which cards they are? Finally, how does the math work for determining when something is truly burned, enlightened, etc.

TLDR; how does WaniKani’s SRS work?

Because there are predefined intervals for how long the wait is depending on the level of the item. And depending on if the item goes up or a down they choose the corresponding wait interval.

By tagging them with the next review interval in the database table for the user?

Do you not know how software works?:face_with_raised_eyebrow: The system isn’t magic…

Hi @solrflow! Welcome back to WaniKani!
You might want to consider making a reintroduction thread, and get the Welcome Wagon treatment. Many people will help you with any questions you may have.
I hope you don’t mind that I moved the category of your post to “Requesting Help”.
Also, what does “ELI5” mean?
