今週、姉ちゃんが来ます。誕生日は木曜日です。フクロウを見たいから、猛禽センターに行きます。これは誕生日の望みです。
仕事で昇進しています。新しい仕事は休暇の後です。

今日は誕生日です。
猛禽センターに行きました。フクロウをたくさん見ました。色々の種がたくさんいました。ハクトウワシもタカもいました。
茶屋に行きました。中国のキンモクセイの紅茶を飲みました。ライチのモチを食べました。お茶のサンプラーのハコを買いました。いつも日本茶を飲んでます。でも、このハコに中国茶があります。I just spent a long time trying to figure out how these teas are referred to in Japanese. 後発酵茶 might be the term? Well, they are fermented and pressed, in my box they are little balls or little coins. I’m not that informed about this kind of tea so I’m not sure if all of them are pu’erh or not. 楽しみ。香水も買いました。茶屋の店主は香水を作っています。Aged Sheng Pu’erを買いました。土のような香りです。
プレゼントをもらいました。黒猫が描かれた茶碗や黒猫が描かれたマグカップをもらいました。

I did my reviews and lessons. I didn’t really keep up with them last week.
先週、新しい仕事を始めました。６時から２時まで働いています。前には９時から５時まででした。仕事の後で歩いています。今日は雨が降りました。雨が寒かった。 カフェに歩きました。温かいコーヒーを飲みました。
明日の天気予報は雪です。
窓をの外を見ました。雪が降っています。

My lessons today had the word 集める so I wrote something using that word.
いろいろの事を集めています。茶碗など。
大好きな茶碗の表面にイチョウがあります。松葉もあります。内面に御本手があります。とてもきれいです。
最新の茶碗の表面に黒猫があります。黒猫がちょっと変です。御本手もあります。かわいいです。

I’m working on my reviews.
今朝、自動車事故を起きました。 運転手じゃない。Lyftのライドでした。肩がエアバッグを打ちましたが、痛んでいません。レッカー車の運転手は仕事に乗せました。半時間遅れました。

I’m having a lot of trouble with the word 開発. I’m not sure why but I just can not remember it is “development”.
I only have 4 more kanji until I level up but it’ll take a few days.

I have booked my trip to Japan. I don’t wanna bore people so I won’t talk about it too much.
I’m flying in and out of Tokyo because I’d rather have an easier flight into Japan and take the Shinkansen from there. I am worried about one thing that isn’t even really relevant to my Japanese studies at all but I’ll solicit advice anyway. I’m flying MSP-ORD-Narita and there is a 45 minute layover in Chicago. It looks like I’m supposed to stay in terminal 1. However, Minneapolis and Chicago are kinda famous for having bad weather in February. Should I call and see if I can have the first part of my flight changed to one 2 hours earlier??? That flight will be extremely early in the morning so I’d rather not. Does anyone reading my study log have an opinion on this matter?
I think I will try to read something in Japanese. My sister brought me many of my books when she visited. How about ご近所物語 book 1. It’s manga and I said I don’t like manga for practice but I will give it a try anyway.
I guess I should write in Japanese. Ummmmm…
昨日の朝、歩道が氷ですべて覆われました。霧深かったから、霧は凍られたと思います。怖かった！！！とても危なかった。

I did my reviews. I was lazy about doing lessons recently but I did all my lessons today.
病気です！喉が痛い。仕事に行きませんでした。
最近、「Wild at Heart」を見ました。初回でした。今、「Dune」だけが見ていない唯一David Lynchの映画です。見たくない。でも、「Wild at Heart」 を久しく見たかった。いいと思いました。

I probably won’t get any answers here 
but my coworker is going on vacation the same week I’m supposed to go to Japan. I did not put my time in yet because I was waiting to accrue more vacation time. It seems she already put her request in and she wants me to cover for her on the 7th and 14th. I did think maybe it might be possible for me to push the trip forward and the last few days of the trip would be the festival in Hirosaki but I don’t think my vacation will be able to overlap with her’s at all. So I think I will just have to miss it. I don’t think my current job is worth much of anything so I did consider quitting and going on my trip as planned but if I’m unemployed 6 months later I will really regret it. So I guess I have no choice but to postpone it.
Has anyone here been to Aomori/Miyagi in late February??? Is it just bad weather? The whole appeal of going in February was the festival in Hirosaki.

I’m going to Japan in early March now. The hotel I want to stay at in Sendai is totally booked the week I wanted to stay there with my new dates so I rearranged my itinerary again but the hotel was also fully booked for the last night so I’m losing a night in Sendai. That was ok because I wanted to do a day trip to Matsushima anyway so I thought maybe I’ll just stay there overnight. I might still do that but I’m not sure. I’m sure I will figure something out though.
At least I have an extra month to study Japanese!!! Do you think my Japanese will actually improve at all during that month?
I was writing this post on my computer and now I’m writing it on my phone and I don’t even know how and when that happened. I intended on writing a diary but I hate writing on my phone so I’ll write one later.

I’m still pretty much a beginner, but if I was going to Japan in a month, I’d probably focus on specific areas. Like, if I wanted to order food in a restaurant, or to ask for directions. More advanced people will have better answers for you. Have a great trip

Yeah I need to look up how to order food in a restaurant because that was a source of confusion for me last time I was in Japan, which was 2019. And if you’re wondering “isn’t your Japanese better than it was in 2019?”, the answer is not really. I did get better but then I didn’t study Japanese for a while so I forgot a lot. I’m like an eternal beginner sadly.

今冬、天気がとても悪いです。バス停から仕事までの進路は南極大陸の様にです。氷河の上を歩いています。雪の山を登っています。 ペンギンじゃない。難しいです。

I’m trying to keep up with Japanese but I’m kind of distracted living in the Twin Cities.
I got 2 packages of Japanese foods this week so I guess I will write about them.
福袋を買いました。うどんのキット、だし炊きパスタのキット、２つのカレのキット、そば、椎茸だし、野菜だし、２つのラメンのキット、焼にんにく味噌、ペペロンチーノの三色ソルトと和風だし塩を受けました。1回前に、カレのキットを買いました。このキットは3人のサーブです。１人です。でも、別の物が楽しみ。
他の箱はみりんとお米だけです。
