I was doing some further googling, and came across this resource: Kanji Compound Words or Jukugo - SakuraMani
Specifically, section 3 on Jukugo or Compound Kanji words which indicate an action (Verb+Noun) seems like it my shed some light on this topic, but I’m not entirely sure.
Interesting. Yeah, before this thread I always thought of jukugo in a general way, but never thought of a further breakdown of categories of jukugo. Makes sense, though.
