I couldn’t help thinking that 深田先生 really needed someone to talk to about all this. :sweat_smile:

That was a lot to tell someone you’d never met before, and much more than the mere bones of えり’s backstory.

The 母娘 and subsequent delving into 天吾’s past was interesting, especially the parallels he drew between the NHK and the 証人会. I expect more in this vein, and more えり moving forward

some thoughts about the book

I’ve found through the course of this book that it’s much easier to read when I’m well rested and able to focus. When I’m not my brain can’t handle all the details as well and I get really tired from reading. Well, that’s probably common sense but I don’t notice it as much reading, say, 獣の奏者 or 本好き.

All in all an enjoyable read! I’m glad to finally experience some murakami, and looking forward to watching things unfold. Except for those less pleasant spoilers/trigger warnings. :upside_down_face:

I finished just in time. I read most of the last two chapters this weekend :sweat_smile: . New thread and schedule will be up this evening (CET)!

I’ll be starting a bit late since I haven’t downloaded the ebook yet and won’t connect my kindle to wifi for… Let’s say another week or thereabouts.
