# Best way to review with Wanikani's SRS system

Actually, WK-wise, it’s better to do reviews every 4 hours rather than 8, since the most important interval is the first one (which is 4 hours).

Don’t worry dude, just let the SRS do its thing. If you forget a word again and again, you’ll probably end up learning that word better than most others as you’ll see it more frequently. Eventually, you’ll associate pain and suffering with that word or kanji and it’ll eventually sink in 🙂

That’s true, but this is simply my personal preference in order to make myself work harder to memorize new items on my first try. It’s not much, but that little bit of extra time can make the connection that much stronger if you manage to get it right after more time has passed. Does it slow down my leveling? Absolutely. But it makes me focus more on learning, which I’m hoping will pay off as I get more and more vocabulary to maintain.
