It’s showing at both of the major cinema chains here, multiple screenings per day, but unfortunately at none of the cinemas that don’t cost an arm or a leg. Thinking I may wait for it to come out on streaming.
Really funny to hear this conversation, because I actually only heard about the release because it was peppered all over my instagram ads, and my ticket was only 8 USD which is way less than I usually pay to see a movie. Really hoping It wins the poll though, I loved the movie and have got the book on my shelf already!
Voting is open in the ABBC!
Just over one day to go! It’s been a tight race so far.
If you’re interested in leveling up your book club reading, please consider joining
Tomorrow we start Part 2 of JoJo (somewhere around L24-27 according to Natively). You don’t have to have read Part 1 to read Part 2, each Part is independent of each other. Best of all, it’s legitimately available for free to read on Shonen Jump’s app, Jump+. Whether you’re new to or familiar with JoJo, it’s a fun time and a good read. We are reading one chapter a week. Please come check it out よろしく
The poll is over with a strong win for ひとりぼっちの○○生活 / Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu so will be our next book. By the usual standards this would start December 14th.
@seanblue You originally nominated this - I know in the past you haven’t been up to running weekly threads for some other nominations, but are you ok to run this one?
In other news, Full Moon has recieved 11%, 10% and 10% in the last 3 polls, so will be eliminated.
Would still rather pass, but as usual I’m happy to help come up with a schedule.
Bye bye Full Moon. Now I won’t feel bad going to read it on my own.
If you schedule it, I can run it.
Well, the ABBC is heading toward Doraemon, which I’m not really interested in. I think I’ll join the BBC this time
I need to skim the first volume just to see if any chapters are particularly dense, but I have a few options in mind at this point. Should I make a scheduling poll here or after you make the home thread?
I’ll get a thread up sometime today, and it’s probably best to put it there.
And while we’re at “level up your book reading”: If you’re interested in reading something non-manga, but a book with very occasional pictures instead, we’ll soon start to read 人狼サバイバル 1 絶体絶命! 伯爵の人狼ゲーム!
It’s a L25 children’s novel with furigana, so somewhere towards the upper end of the BBC. We’re still voting on reading speed and when exactly to start, but from the current results it looks like we’ll be reading it at BBC speed too.
Here’s a quick summary what it’s about:
Summary - English
On the way back from a camping trip, five classmates and their chaperone, unable to return home due to a landslide, end up staying in a mysterious Western-style mansion. However, the mansion’s owner, who calls himself “the Count,” declares the start of a “Werewolf Game.” The rules are simple: identify the werewolf disguised as one of the group and decide by vote. However, if the chosen person is not the werewolf, that person will be eaten by the wolf…
Escape is impossible until the correct answer is found. The ultimate survival game has begun! Will they trust their friends, or betray them? In this ultimate game, the courage, intelligence, and true friendship of the boys and girls will be tested!
<For upper elementary students, with furigana provided for all kanji>
The book sounds pretty fun, the ratings are favorable and books with mystery elements often make for great book clubs, so I’m very much looking forward to it. It would be lovely to see some of you there too!
The thread is up!
Discussions on the forum about Bocchi are going to be terribly confusing
If you’re talking about Bocchi, just mention it’s about Bocchi with the long hair. Otherwise, if you’re talking about Bocchi, mention it’s about Bocchi with a side ponytail thing.
I don’t see the problem here.
or call one of them mango bocchi
Beginner Bocchi and Intermediate Bocchi
Ichidan Bocchi and Godan Bocchi.
