If anyone’s not sold on this one yet, I present you Hebizono Mirei

She is precious and must be protected at all costs

I feel like everyone lists furigana as both a pro and con (I have as well), so maybe we should just add something to the template to just call it out informationally.
Has full furigana? Yes/No

Hell yeah. We gotta get through volume 1 without her first though. But I think there are two chapters where she plays a bigger role in volume 2!

Also, I’m not surprised that you seem to like the manga too! From what I’ve seen that seems like it’s right up your alley.

(I was bit surprised to not see you in the 玉藻の恋 book club though.)

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe under the “Natively: Level ??” part?

I’m also just now seeing that an image isn’t actually part of the proposal template? I feel like it should be; it adds a lot of visual appeal to the post, and almost everyone is doing it anyway.

I’ve been quite busy lately, and I’ve actually fallen behind on the book clubs I was a part of  Still need to finish Frieren and Atelier

Shame though, because 玉藻の恋 does look like something I’d very much enjoy. Might give it a read when my schedule clears up a bit.

I added the image and furigana to the template. I also kind of hate the “insert sample pages” part, especially since half the time I nominate a book I have physically and it’s a huge pain!

If you don’t mind, could you elaborate on this? You can put it under spoiler tags. Is there fanservice? About how much?

Thanks!

Yeah, those are a bit annoying, but I figure it’s only a few minutes when making the nomination (e.g. screenshotting them off Amazon or Bookwalker) which is a one time thing, and by doing it it’s easier for people to check out a nomination.

I think the manga pretty much doesn’t have fanservice in general, but someone really sensitive to it might see things that I just gloss over. (It also depends a bit on what you consider fanservice, I guess. E.g. a wolf character sniffs next to a human character’s head as a greeting, and the human blushes a bit later when thinking back on it - is that fanservice? I’d say no, because it makes sense in context and it’s not overly sexualized.)

Spoilers for chapter 3 describing exactly one panel while giving necessary context: Chapter 3 has a frame of a vampire biting the blushing female main character’s neck. The “blushing” part is only happening in the overactive imagination of the slightly panicked male main character who is experiencing culture shock; it seems neither the vampire nor the female main character see the blood sucking as anything more than “eating”, and it’s likely the female main character had a completely straight face.

Apart from that it’s mainly what I’d consider a momentary dip in writing quality. It’s the weakest chapter of the bunch. It’s much better before that chapter, and it’s much better after, and as far as I can remember nothing like this ever happens again.

Thanks! Ok, that’s not too bad.

Isn’t this a short story?

My bad :frowning:

Unfortunately polls are super sensitive to editing on discourse posts so it would reset posts to fix it now.

I’ve put a note before the poll.

We should leave Bocchi until the IMC is doing another round of voting, and then we can do a Bocchi two-fer. :slightly_smiling_face:

Ha, that was the other picture I considered posting. Since it’s a recurring gag in the omake, I can’t help but wonder if the mangaka actually knows some Urdu.

Last day for the poll! It doesn’t look like the auto close is working as I don’t see an end date listed even though it was there in the bbcode, so I’ll close it 2024-08-18T19:00:00Z
