Yep. Now @macalys hasn’t posted since 2024 and hasn’t logged in since February, so we might need a volunteer to run the weekly threads. Anyone interested?
I really enjoy Haruki Murakami’s writing (I’ve read most of his books in English, but none in Japanese!), and I haven’t read this book, so I am happy to do the posts if no one else is interested. I’ve participated in several book clubs over the last year at the ABBC and BBC level, so I know that people help each other out as needed with comprehension etc.
Yay! I might join this one! Looks interesting, a famous author and… short! Also I should at least look at some books eventually…

Hello @araigoshi and others with more book club experience… Super Frog Saves Tokyo かえるくん、東京を救う seems to be very difficult to get outside of Japan except as a short story with no furigana, which might be difficult for many people. There is a bilingual edition available digitally in Japan only, and the bilingual edition seems to be out of print. I thought it was better to bring these issues up and make sure that it’s not a problem before making a home post.
I live in Mexico and have had problems with getting digital books from Amazon Japan, but my (Japanese) husband may be able to help with that, as he has a Japanese Kindle with a lot of titles. Usually, I get them from Bookwalker, but the site says I cannot order the book unless I am in Japan. So, there are possibly going to be accessibility issues for many people, requiring a VPN or something similar.
Amazon JP has a preview of the digital copy here but to me, it looks a bit harder than Natively level 21 and has limited furigana. However, it has the English translation, which makes it easy to pick up any vocabulary and understand grammatical structures.
The story collection that Super Frog is from, 神の子どもたちはみな踊る, has a Natively rating of 31, which is a bit beyond the BBC. There is an English graphic novel as well, which looks fun. I didn’t find any used copies on Ebay after a quick search, either.

It does seem hard to get, I agree. 
i don’t recall which book club it was, but we recently read 午后の欠伸, which also mostly doesn’t have furigana. there rather than the length, the saving grace was the lower density of text in the manga?
I bought this one from Amazon.co.jp and think the English translations and notes look great - it’s exactly the same book on Bookwalker if you use a VPN.
Note that the core difference between the ABBC and BBC is that the ABBC requires furigana, while the BBC does not.
Buying it on its own does seem difficult, but per @macalys original nomination, it’s in this compilation which I at least can buy from overseas fine.

Looking at the schedule, I’ll hold the next poll on August 29th for the next book after Super Frog Saves Tokyo.
The most likely time for the poll after that (depending on the schedule on the next book) is late October or early November, which is a heavy travel period for me between my trip to Japan and a work trip after that.
My time for participation in book clubs and this forum is also just down in general, so now’s probably a good time to ask if anyone wants to take over the scheduling and polling for the BBC overall, ideally ahead of that October/November poll.
Are you posting the new poll shortly? I’d like to nominate something in the next day or so if that’s possible!
Also, I’m still relatively new to the BBC scene but I’ve participated in a few Book Clubs at this point. I’d be willing to take over the scheduling and polling if no one more experienced is interested.
I was supposed to post it last week but got distracted by real life stuff. I’ll post it this Saturday instead, so if your nomination is in by then I’ll post it.
As far as future polls, it’s really not that involved so don’t worry about not being experienced. The only really invisible part is I keep a spreadsheet of past poll results to know when something needs to be eliminated
