Hi all, another month gone means another update from me.
Good news - I started doing my reviews regularly again in early-mid June, and I’ve been doing them consistently since! When I first came back, I had about 330~ reviews which I subsequently got down to 0 in a matter of a few days. I started bringing some lessons into the mix too, and I was surprised by how noticeably effective WK’s ordering and batching system is at providing lots of opportunities to practice the same words!
For some reason, I’ve also found a lot of the vocabulary I was struggling with in March much easier to learn upon my return. I have no idea why this is, but I’m definitely not complaining. Perhaps I needed a break anyway…
By any means, I’m back and somewhat embarrassed to see 126 days(!) spent on level 6 at the top of my screen, but I’m pretty sure I’ll make it to 7 at least over the course of July. For now, I’m not doing a ton of lessons just because I’ve been trying to clear the backlog and get some breathing room, but I can already tell the onslaught is easing off and I’ll be back to a decent pace daily soon.
I also got my first burns in June from items in level 1 and 2 - I’ve already got more than 100 burns, which I’ll continue gaining over the next few months before getting none again for a while due to the break I took in April-May.
Speaking of that break, it was taken to focus on university work. I got my results back, and my final result was an average of 70.04 - I attend a UK university, meaning the boundary for the highest grade sits at 70! I’ve come out the other end with a first class degree, and a mark of 81/100 on my dissertation. My supervisor has also invited me to adapt my work to a submission for an academic conference in December, which I think I’ll take him up on.
