Got to level 20!!! 1/3 of the way there
Congrats to @rilakkumacafe , @Alvinael , @blitz64 , and @Portego for all reaching level up!
Just got to level 21 myself and excited to start the 死 levels
I feel like I just started wanikani so hard to think I’m already 1/3 of the way there!
i told some of the managers in my company to just hold any important meetings or making any decisions today as I won’t be able to make a different whether they are serious or not. haha
レベル三十二!
finally broke my streak of ~7 days, 0 hours levels that started most recently around 27. this is my second such streak, the previous one was levels 16–20. i’m actually pretty relieved, kinda similarly to how i was at level 21: if you hit the week cadence too perfectly (and do all your lessons pretty much as soon as they’re available), the rhythm of the reviews starts to get a little more “boom and bust” than i like. for example, i had more than 100 reviews already this morning, and still 200 more to come throughout the day. yesterday or the day before i think i had fewer than 100 the whole day.

Finally broke through level 53 after almost 16 days. Feeling like I’m getting everything wrong this level :<
Level 21! Officially 1/3 of the way there. I’m definitely seeing improvement in my reading. On NHK News Easy, often I only have to look up 1 or 2 kanji in an article now (excluding names). However, I haven’t been doing a lot of grammar, so often times I still need to use Google translate because even when I know what things the sentence is about, I don’t actually know what the sentence is saying about the things. Still, progress!
I reached level 14 today. It took me around 10 days to level up.
Hey all, long time no see (more like 2.5 weeks but hey), just about to reach level 22 tomorrow so thought would make a post signifying the last two weeks quick. 先々週、レベルアップ to 二十, finally ending the teenage era on wanikani, and 先週, got the レベルアップ to 二十一, finally entering 死 (though it is still feeling quite nice for now
)。
Bunpro going solid still, finally about to start N3 content hopefully by next week, finished first satori reader series completely as well, now moving on to something a bit more mainstream and also start NHK easy now since kanji recognition seems to be so much better now.
Will be back again for this update tomorrow too, glad to see so many new faces and so many of the old ones from October still going strong. Anyways, 皆さん、頑張ってください‼

Levelled up to 25! Slowed down significantly the last month or so as I’ve been travelling, but level 25 marks the furthest I have ever been on Wanikani. 6 years ago I got to level 24 before falling off.
I still haven’t missed a day of reviews, and although Ive slowed down I still have all the motivation to finish Wanikani and Im sure I will once Ive completed my travels. Heading to Japan for 5 weeks at the end of April which Im sure will motivate me even more ![]()
Wow, I haven’t posted in a few months. Life has thrown a few jabs at me these past months
. I’m still climbing consistently tho, and things should get back to normal now.
I’m currently doing 8 days per level, but I’m thinking of slowing down a little bit once I get to level 30. My plan is to go to 10 or 12 days per level, and shift focus into reading and specially listening, because boy do my listening skill stink!
With 12 days per level I’m still on schedule to end in 2027 (according to my calcs, it would be around April of 2027, so that gives me some months of leeway)
Level up to 44! I found this level to have a lot of abstract kanji that were hard for my brain to connect to, so I ended up doing it really slowly and only adding a few lessons per day because I was getting sick of WK. Luckily, level 44 seems to have a lot of freebie kanji that I already know ![]()
33! I slipped back my level-up day to Thursday, which I will claim to be all according to 計画 ![]()
Reached level 24 today, took me a little over 8 days. Work has been kicking my butt, but I made it to another week!
Well done to all the level ups ![]()
I leveled up to 22 a few days ago, but been getting pretty busy and the levels are feeling definitely harder. I feel like I’ve come across pretty uncommon kanji and vocabulary, so my previous knowledge isn’t helping me. Even started to draw little doodles with each new kanji to help me memorize the mnemonics T ~ T The good thing though, is that I probably know more kanji now that I ever did!
I do need to start adding in more reading and immersion, would love to hear any suggestions that people have!
oh and I found a special bubbly durtle yesterday <3
the ABBC (absolute beginners book club) here is really fun, highly recommend! we just read ギャルと恐竜, which was so much fun and a great practice at getting comfy with slang.
other things i read around level 22 that i enjoyed:
- I can’t speak highly enough of Tadoku if you’re just getting started, it really boosted my confidence in my ability to read.
- I read one volume of シロクマカフェ, which had some tough moments (at one point Panda hears the word for “parallel parking”, but because they wrote it in katakana, both me AND Panda had no idea what was going on) but was as good to read as the anime was to watch back in the day…
- a volume of N3-level short stories… these were kinda mid, but it was nice that they had a different focus and tone than the Tadoku ones
- ミラーさん, a novel aimed at adult learners of Japanese … not much happens at all, which was sort of disappointing lol.
- after this i got sort of itchy and wanted more “truly native” content, whatever that means, so i’ve been reading stuff that i can also have an audiobook or an anime to watch alongside it to kinda double dip on listening and reading comprehension. (much more about this in my study log lol)
Lol finally made it to 30. I had to take a pause for a month because my apprentice queue was insane and because I wanted to shift focus towards reading more. I have not been reading as much as I should be for someone in 20s and 30s level.
