you must have misread me. when i said “that thread”, i was replying to the previous post, which refers to a thread with deadline summer 2026. as i say in my reply, that’s why i am on this leaderboard and not participating in that challenge: when i started wanikani, that challenge was already out of reach.
hold up, i thought i remembered the goal for this being a lot more ambitious, or am i thinking of a different thread?
could’ve sworn the title was “to the moon” or something similar, tho…
anyway, if i stick to my plan, i’ll reach level 60 on the 15th… one day after the end date ![]()
can i still join?
Hey just a heads up that levels 43-60 are fast levels that can be completed in 3 days and 10 hours each since they don’t require you to do a second set of kanji to complete the levels (basically automatically unlock 90% of the kanji as soon as you reach those levels).
But yeah, even with those levels shaving off almost 2 months, its still going to be another 6 months give or take assuming max speed till lvl 60.
Glad to have you here though!
Of course! Welcome aboard ![]()

If I didn’t go on hiatus from March 2025-July 2025, I would have been on time for that Summer 2026 thread. It got a bit overwhelming after Level 15 and I had to restart to Level 1 by Aug 2025. It’s still overwhelming but I just need to keep pushing on.
Now I didn’t know that you can speed run Levels 42 onwards. That’s news to me!
I reached ‘lift off’ stage. I’m at level 10 now.
Congrats! Welcome to space ![]()
I have a bad news everyone (or good, that depends on how you look at it). NASA released the following statement today:
As teams prepare to launch Artemis II in the weeks ahead, the Artemis III mission, now in 2027, will be designed to test out systems and operational capabilities in low Earth orbit to prepare for an Artemis IV landing in 2028.
In other words NASA’s moon landing has been pushed back to 2028 (the earliest), and now will be called Artemis IV.
Looks like we have plenty of time to get to 60 ![]()
Indeed haha. So make sure your fuel lasts long enough! (But we can all rush there though, before all these slow NASA astronauts. )
This just means we get to be the first astronauts on the moon since 1972 instead of those guys
Lets show them how a real astronaut gets things done!
I was just looking for ways to help keep myself accountable so I’d love to join in for this trip to the mooooon!

For some background info: After taking a break for over a year, I restarted wanikani in Aug 2025 to help me prepare for the JLPT N3 exam. After seeing that I passed in Feb, I wanted to keep going with studying full speed! Since then, I finally cleared 500+ vocab lessons that ignored from previous lessons and leveled up to lvl 17 with a clean slate ![]()
And here are some progress pics!
you can see that I’ve powered through many lessons and reviews lately lol
got a special berry durtle yesterday!
To the moon! Well, not really, but I’m getting close. Can’t wait for level 20+ and all the pesky N2 kanji and vocab that comes with it ![]()
i’ve officially doubled my level since joining this challenge!
That’s really impressive, well done!
Hey all, my apologies on the 3 day delay on this but another week, another レベルアップ to 十七。I am thoroughly enjoying this one, with the lower pace on the vocab, and with grammar also going strong simultaneously with Bunpro, Satori Reader, and the new shows I’ve been deep diving into now as a first watch.
This week was all about Tokyo Swindlers on Netflix, which I do recommend but will warn that certain scenes of gore are present, but the storyline involved more than make up for them!
Anyways, onwards and upwards from here and wishing you all the best of luck in your journeys as well.
See you in another 4 days now!
Level 8 now, taking it a little easy to avoid burn out later. Only doing ten lessons per day is helping with that. Just need to keep going!
L58 now. 3 to go to complete.
