Hi!

I’ve been tinkering with a little side project over the past couple months and thought it might be worth sharing here. It’s an open‑source companion app designed to give you a flexible way to review WaniKani items outside the normal SRS flow.

The idea came from my own study habits: sometimes I want to reinforce a batch of leeches, or practice a specific level, or just drill items more freely without affecting my SRS timings. The app lets you:

  • Create custom decks from your WaniKani data

  • Review items in an Anki‑style format

  • Focus on leeches, recent mistakes, or anything you want to target

  • Keep everything lightweight and distraction‑free

I have an idea for an additional feature: I often struggle recognising kanjis when they are written in a different font style. If there were a way to alternate fonts in the quiz this could add an additional difficulty level, might be interesting!
