Personal Opinion

This is a nonfiction book about the poison gas terror attack on the Tokyo subway in 1995. It mainly consists of interviews with a large number of people who rode one of the Tokyo subways during the incident.
It’s very thick at almost 800 pages, so we could decide to read the first half in the book club or something. If people are still interested, we can finish it in an offshoot book club.

Pros and Cons for the Book Club

Pros

  • Nonfiction for a change
  • Written by Murakami Haruki which promises an easy writing style.

Cons

  • Terror attack report, so may contain disturbing descriptions.
  • Written by Murakami Haruki  - how much weird stuff can he manage to slip into a nonfiction book?
