Hi, I’m not sure if I’m the only one experiencing this, or if other people have the same issue and get annoyed by it.
When doing my reviews, there are many times when I accidentally write the spelling or reading of a word when the meaning is being asked for, or vice versa.
It’s not really a big deal, since the system will tell me that I made a simple mistake, or I sometimes notice it halfway through writing the word. It’s just getting really annoying that I keep making this mistake over and over again and have to backspace the word each time—more than ten times a day, every day of every week since I started (over 1.5 years ago).
I know that the vocabulary meaning is highlighted in grey, and the kanji reading is highlighted in black. But for some reason my brain just doesn’t register it. I guess maybe my brain assumes that when I’m writing four word meanings in a row, the fifth one will also ask for the meaning. But it doesn’t work that way.
And I don’t think I’m rushing or anything. I usually do small sets of 20–30 reviews multiple times a day, or one or two larger review sessions. Still, I keep making this mistake quite often.
When using the Extra Study feature, it uses a completely different system where you have to answer a word’s meaning and spelling back-to-back. That works much better for me. But I assume that mixing words and randomizing whether you answer the meaning or the spelling is better for the learning process overall.
Anyway, are there more people experiencing this? And is there a setting or userscript I could use to help with this problem? (For example, something that makes it more obvious when to write a word’s meaning and when to write its spelling—for greyscale-blind people like me
)
