Woah amazing! Tell us when we can download the new version, I really want to test all the additions you made so far! Well done @codejockie and thanks for all the efforts you are putting on you project!
Doing some reviews today i hit an error a few times, assignment_id is invalid
.
It popped up at the bottom of the screen and faded away before i could get a screenshot. When i finished reviews, 3 items were still available, i assume the ones that hit the error. Did them again and it was fine. Not a big deal, but figured i’d report it.
i’m really enjoying the app so far, especially the notifications when reviews are available. Definitely encourages me to do them more often.
Thank you for reporting this. Might be a case where the assignment_id
was not defined (should not happen). I can’t think of what would cause that at this time so I will have to look into this more.
A little subtle thing that it’s not an error, but by comparison the web page does and it’s not so clear until you face it: when you do reviews there are times where you are short of time and press that “wrap” button and in the web it’s ok it gives you both the halves of the same flashcard so you still complete it. In the app however this is not true (and I can understand why because this tricky things is very subtle). In the app I press “wrap” and there are times where I still have halves hanging there and the next time I do reviews I find the whole flashcard. I made some tests and found that on the web the halves of a flashcard are never more than 5 flashcards away one from the other so that when “wrap” is pressed they still fit in those 10 flashcards available. I hope this is something easy to implement! Sorry for the long post xD
The behaviour you described is how it is set up in the app (except the part of having them to be not more than 5 flashcards away.) It will allow you do up to 10 halves, anything more than that – the difference (say you have 15 halves) will be lost.
@EroKy for the notifications control you requested I have two options in mind:
- Choose a defined amount of hours your want to be notified, say hourly, every 2 hours, etc.
- Choose a particular time of day you want the notification delivered say 12:00 pm every day
Let me know what you think. Everyone is free to chime in too.
Hi there!
Just wanted to chime in on the keyboard front, I still see missed characters when typing the readings rapidly (in non-hinted mode). Is the app still using legacy text fields?
P.S: The recent updates and features have been great, ありがとうございます!
I feel like having both options would be great. As for time of day’s implementation, I think it should be possible to add more than one time (e.g. I’d like one in the morning before work, and one after work, etc…). That would be much nicer.
Yes, still on the legacy API; I am yet to make that switch.
Thank you! どういたしまして
Having both options is nice except now there are two things to maintain should things break. From your response it seems you are leaning towards the time of day option, no?
Both options sound good to me. If you decide to go with option #2, though, I’d personally prefer to see it more than once per day—similar to what @skaldebane mentioned.
Yeah I lean more in favor of specific times, but if you go with intervals, that would work too, not bullish on either option.
I also thought of two more things—if it’s not too much to ask:
1. Option to Hide Homepage Elements
I know some of these elements are also on the website, but it might be nice to have an option to hide certain sections on the homepage for users who prefer a cleaner layout. Maybe something you could toggle in the settings?
Personally, I don’t really need to see “Recent Mistakes” or “Critical Condition Items,” especially if you’re planning to include leeches in Extra Study at some point. I also don’t find the “Unlocked Items” or “Burned Items (last 30 days)” sections particularly useful. Just an idea in case other users feel the same and would appreciate a more minimal view.
2. Temporarily Disable Lightning Mode During a Session
This might be a niche request, but I was wondering if there could be a way to pause or temporarily disable Lightning Mode mid-review. Sometimes I already know the reading/meaning but would like to take a moment to check for alternative readings or meanings before moving on.
Maybe tapping the lightning icon could disable it just for the next item (or toggle it off completely). Of course, the icon might need to be slightly larger to avoid accidentally hitting the Home button instead.
Most of the items you want hidden are always at the bottom of the screen so should not be a problem since one can avoid scrolling to those parts. Having said that I can make them toggleable.
I will consider adding this. The implementation I will go with is to toggle it off completely.
The new notification settings will look like below image allowing you to choose times for notifications to be pushed.
Clicking the “Add Time” will open a time picker or time input dialog for selecting or typing in a time as in the below images. Clicking each time chip will delete that time.
Clicking the icon (calendar/clock) in the bottom left corner switches between a time picker or a time input. Selecting OK adds the time to your preferences; Cancel closes the dialog without making any changes.
I replaced the gear icon with the home icon when on the settings screen. This way you can quickly return to the dashboard from anywhere in settings.
On other screens, the gear icon should be visible.
Thank you, I would love to see that!
With all the upcoming changes, I’ll probably end up enjoying the app even more than the website itself!
Now that custom notification times has been implemented, I’d like to ask for suggestion. With the current implementation, if no time is added notifications are not pushed. Would you prefer I set it to the default state of hourly notifications if no time is set/added or leave it as is?
Please vote below:
- Use default (hourly) notification when no time is set/added
- Stick with no notification when no time is set/added
Maybe if one’s toggles to yes “notification” the app can set it to the default time. I personally don’t want to have notifications at all if I set the app to no notifications
Okay, that’s one vote for default time. Yes, notifications are not pushed when it is not enabled.
@Alsatio please vote your choice in the poll above.
