I actually didn’t mention my favorite part of the Boy’s Abyss chapter 1, this card directly between the chapters, very sweet wordplay C: ^^
I think the manga touches on some topics of personal interest to me and has some really tender moments of affection between the protagonists…
…but also is sooo depressive that it’s hard not to feel like you actually are being thrown into the abyss, and it does make me feel a little uncomfortable to read through ^^
On the upside, I found it compelling to push through a few more chapters than I expected today, so it does a pretty good job at selling its premise, I just wish the presentation were handled a little more gracefully ^^
And on the day of my 489 day streak of Bunpro… I ran out of items to review, except for just one? To commemorate that, I’ve decided to add the N1 deck to my pile, I’ll only do 2 items a day, which means it’ll take me 3 months to get through it
But I hope that with the reduced velocity, I’ll be able to focus on the grammar items a bit more, so 如く and たところで, please stay in my head for a bit more!
N1 BUNPRO HAS BEEN STARTED
Life
AAAA CALLING RESIDENT TAIYOUSEA SLEEPER AGENTS
Today, we took a bus to a place called Ericeia, an open ocean summer resort at the west coast of Portugal C:
The weather has been absolutely beautiful, but when you get to the ocean, the breeze from the side of the water is just FREEZING COLD, so i needed to wear a coat to cover my sleeveless at 26 degrees and peak sun intensity ^^
And huge, huuuuge waves, way more than if you just look at them in the bay. So much so, I got flooded by one wave today and got rocks and sand all over myself, and the water bounced off of me and went into my eyes too xdddd
A lot of the buildings in the town resemble something you’d associate with Greece more than Portugal, but hey, both countries are Eastern European, right? ^^
also, GERMANY MENTIONED and BERLIN MENTIONED, find out if you can find the desaturated NETT HIER sticker ^^
And then we took it to Sintra, a town that has been in the World Heritage UNESCO catalog for three decades right now, and travellng there over Easter is a blursed experience ^^
On the upside, a lot of things have been set up for tourists to enjoy and the people in service today seemed really kind and friendly today, presumably expecting for today to be one of the most income-heavy days of the year if they play it right ^^
But everyone is just super nice to us in here and it’s like, aaaa
And then, we took a train to Lisbon, but as soon as I saw a train, I was just mesmerized by how badly worn out it was and I was like “it must have not been cleaned up since the 60s” or something, imagine my surprise when I found out it has been made in 1993 and modernized in 2013 xddd
WHAT DID YOU DO TO THAT TRAIN? WHO? HOW??? xddd
And over back in Lisbon, found a huuuuge library that was still open on Easter had books in many languages, including ones like Swedish or Mandarin for some (really good) reason. I wonder if this is a book that could be used to teach western speakers mandarin? It has all sorts of comics and short texts with latin furigana inside of it, so hey, @polv, maybe you would find it interesting C:
The weirdest book I’ve found in the library has been this one though, Leonard Maltin’s 1994 guide for movies, over a thousand pages with individual reviews to each of the books and short synopses, sections about directors, and I did look some 1994 movies in there, as it’s often called the best year of all time for movies - didn’t find any big ones though. I did find Back to the Future though!
But it’s such a WILD time capsule to behold and I’m so amazed before the age of internet, someone had enough knowhow and time to just write about EVERY movie they could place their hands on, and immortalize it in the format of a book like this, damn
Going back to Berlin tomorrow, won’t be an easy trek and might have an adventure or two, but see you tomorrow, yall ^^
