Sooo, funny story, one friend I was making dumplings with today had a free spot in a Duolingo Super family that d-definitely has been bought w-without using any VPNs to do so, d-definitely xdd
Yesterday I was complaining about Duolingo, but today I’m back to being friends with it, how nice xddd

In terms of Japanese things, I learned today that the full version of caramel ribbon cursetard came out:

and there is a beautiful word in English language that describes my feelings towards this track: peak xddd
(Japanese: 岳 たけ xdddddd)

The person who invited us to do dumplings together was Japanese, and the Duolingo Super friend also lurks here on WaniKani forums sometimes, so if you see this, thank you ^^
We talked a bit about Japanese language and I used a few funny expressions, the Japanese friend also had her birthday party today and got two books in Japanese, アラビアンナイト and one of those 10分で読めるお話 for her kid, so overall doing dumplings together worked really well

I made her a birthday card that had a sentence in it in japanese, and she enjoyed it, so I hope I didn’t blow it ^^

But yeah, casual yapping for hours, another 3100 calories today, I think I’ll have to take tomorrow off from life because I’m severely underslept, severely oversocialized, severely overworked out, and next week I’ll be taking a trip for a seminar to Trier, right next to the border with Luxemburg, so tomorrow is my only chance to properly sleep off xdd

Take care everyone!

Hey hey, fellow Bidoofs of the world ^^

Obligatory, favorite sentence of today xddd

Another something like 45-to-50 minutes today, sadly, today a really poor review block caught up with me and made me make this many mistakes today:

I kinda wish there was an extension for WaniKani that lets you self-study, but on sentences, instead of just words, so similar to Bunpro, you have a sentence and an ask for a specific word. It sounds similar to what KaniWani does, but I have a feeling it’d really boost my recent mistakes retention ^^

EDIT: Joke’s on me, it turns out Bunpro also has vocab and the words in “recent mistakes” can be added there one by one :eyes:

I might try to quiz myself on them again tomorrow, the current level is already concepts that aren’t always easy to connect the wires for, so i need to put in a bit of an extra effort in order to memorize them. I’ll try my best though, いつも通り ^^

The next couple of days are going to be really awkward with reviews and lessons and all, because I’m going for a seminar to Trier. Tomorrow I’ll have Japanese classes and right after them, jump on a train to Frankfurt and I hope I’ll do reviews on the train. Then, Frankfurt to Trier on Tuesday and, I’ll need to listen to and participate in a seminar… in German xddd

This officially starts my block of focusing on German more than on Japanese for a while, and I might be really tired by the time the seminar is over. I’m planning on taking a regio one day to Luxemburg and I’ll definitely want to sightsee Trier, but I might be too tired after each day of thinking B2 German and having to form sentences in B2 German to go like “yahoo, let’s do Japanese!”

I’m still intending on zeroing my review piles each day and doing the proper lessons ^^

I don’t know if anyone is curious about a German block, but here’s the language study block then:

February 9th, 2025

Japanese Block:

  • 108 reviews on WaniKani
  • 15 lessons on WaniKani
  • 43 reviews on Bunpro
  • 3 lessons on Bunpro
  • 1 lesson on Duolingo

German Block:

  • Watched three episodes of Severance with German subs
  • Saw all ads and Babygirl in cinema with German subs
  • Watched the new MrBeast video with German dub xddd ;_;

This is what I mean when I say that it’s much easier for me to study German than it is Japanese, for the time being, because I’m surrounded with German everywhere and I don’t even need to come up with Anki cards or grammar books to passively consume it over time.

German block will decrease in relevance next Saturday, but wanted to let you know the reasons why my brain is frying xdd

Let’s see if I manage to do any Japanese on the train tomorrow!
Take care everyone!

Okay, I might have gone a bit too pessimistic with that post yesterday xdd

February 10th, 2025

Japanese Block:

  • 142 reviews on WaniKani
  • 15 lessons on WaniKani
  • 43(+2 vocab) reviews on Bunpro (probably will remove the vocab though, I’m not ready for this level of review practice xdd)
  • 3 lessons on Bunpro
  • 1 lesson on Duolingo
  • 2h of Japanese classes
  • Misc: WON かるた COMPETITION IN THE JAPANESE CLASSES :sunglasses:
  • Misc: 2h of 笑み男 - finished Chapter 4 and halfway through Chapter 5

German Block:

  • Two episodes of Severance with German subs
  • Talking in VHS Mitte about Berlinale Film Festival coming up soon
  • Probably will have to navigate around Frankfurt when I finally get there, I’ll try not using English at all ^^

So what’s the deal with Karuta? Today’s text we were reading in the Japanese classes was about the different types of Karuta play, and then the teacher put us in front of a table that only had 20 cards, but I was able to just snatch the most of all of the cards. Having read and watched bits and pieces of ちはやふる, you had no idea how much satisfaction it was to channel my inner Chihaya Ayase and push random hiragana cards around xddd

And the teacher really got into it and was singing all of the 和歌s just fine, really appreciated xddd

As for Emio, 久瀬刑事 and 神原刑事’s dynamic is everything, so cool xdd

And today’s sentence of the day:

yep, remember kids, no use beating yourselves down over 95/180 from N3 at JLPT xddd

tbh, I have a feeling that if I were to write it again right now, I’d probably do muuuch better than 2.5 months ago, but I might be completely wrong, I don’t know xdd

So, fingers crossed I don’t get lost in Frankfurt and see you tomorrow in Trier!

  • 15 lessons on WaniKani
  • 44(+2) reviews on Bunpro
  • 3 lessons on Bunpro
  • 1 lesson on Duolingo

German Block:

  • Four hours of a seminar in German
  • 1.5 hours of talking with people at the seminar afterwards
  • Finding my way around Frankfurt and Trier
  • Another… eee… five episodes of Severance with German subs xddd

Before I start with Japanese, just wanted to give some thoughts on German first: I’ve been farming ドイツ語上手s like wildfire today, and it’s nice to hear that, but the ultimate Ziel is always to blend with the locals, and not to “have a good German”, so around five instances of a variation of the expression “doch dein Deutsch ist fast perfekt” started getting on my nerves xddd

I’m really glad I’m able to share a lot of my thoughts in German, including the topic of the seminar, but there are those frustrating moments when you’re digging for a very simple word and cannot find it, I’m just sure that it’ll come with time though. Also, fatigue thinking in German and listening to German for long stretches of time is real xdd

That being said, my study of Japanese significantly positively affects my study of German as well, the techniques I use for Japanese work much better with German for me as well.

Anyway, here’s how it maps onto my Japanese: I’d love it if I could get to the point where I’m, hm, watching a Vtuber for the whole evening and asking them random questions in the chat and understanding all of the responses without having to strain myself that much, but I do realize I’m probably ways off.

As of today, I’m halfway through Level 26 and did all of the remaining kanji lessons, so that part should’ve gone through; tomorrow, there’s a 150+ review session ahead of me on WaniKani tomorrow and I’ll try to do my best.

Waking up in 8.5 hours and then seminar until 4:30pm. And then, Luxemburg tomorrow, should be fun!

Greetings from Trier! C:

You know, I kinda forgot to mention how big of an influence Mario Odyssey is on my life xdddd

Ever since that game took my brain and Google Maps started responding to the receptors in my head, literally everything became a Power Moon, so today I took the Multi Moon of Luxembourg and caught a few smaller ones in Schengen (Luxembourg), Apach (France) and Perl (Germany) respectively, all on the same day ^^

The seminar ended at 4:30 and instantly I jumped on a train to go and see the town, and seeing I did, the sunset over suspended bridges, lights slowly coming to life, hills and valleys, Luxembourg is positively wonderful ^^

And as soon as I learned that the public transit in the country is free, I was like “NO WAY” and jumped on a bus to the Luxembourg/Germany/France tripoint border in Schengen and let me tell you, seeing the 由来 of Europe does leave an impression.

akihabara, somewhere in japan: めんどくさい!!!
Schengen, Luxemburg: ドキドキします xdddd

Took a ton of pics, went to an immersive audio drama in the town, found a queer information spot, had some sushi, timed trains perfectly right to the minute a few times, day perfectly spent ^^

In terms of German, the seminar I’m attending is using really complicated words, so I’m zoning in and out all the time, but the good news is that as soon as I hear questions being asked to me or things directly relevant to what I work with, my attention picks up the signals immediately, so good day in terms of Japanese too. With just this seminar alone I’ll probably catch up for all the Japanese study I did in this thread so far xddd

But in Luxembourg though, had more luck speaking, eee, very basic Russian, than German. The people at the audio drama xddd

In the sushi restaurant I tried asking to order in German, but then they asked me to switch to English and I was like >:[[[[ xddd

In terms of Japanese though, せっかく is coming to me with troubles again, I went through the review page to make sure I’d get it right the next time, but it’s not something that’s very obvious to me, so I’ll have to practice that one. Today’s WaniKani review session just kept on going and going, tomorrow should be a bit shorter, but we’ll see ^^

Something like 50 minutes today.

Today was the day when the language fatigue caught up with me, and my brain simply turned into mashed potatoes. Thinking in a different language is only easy when you know how to get from a vague idea for a sentence in your own head into an actual sentence, and today I just kept trying to build a sentence starting with “Habt ihr…” and the more I tried, the less coherent the sentences were getting and the more mistakes I was making xddd

Of course, it’s understandable, language learning is about exploring new patterns and being able to find if they apply to the ideas you have in your head, but I can see it clearly with Bunpro right now that there are so many different ways of expressing a similar thought that differ just slightly, that I know I’d have the same issue in Japanese, too xdd

Language fatigue is not a feeling that’s new to me, when I was in Japan and trying to only speak in Japanese, I went through the same, tongue twisting, brain melting, inability to produce a sound, fortunately, my German feels a little stronger and I don’t black out and go to zero ability to speak anymore, it’s just that the grammar becomes less coherent with fatigue xdd

Today’s 飲み会 with the Seminar Teilnehmers ^^

I had a thought today that I shared with my friends that this seminar opens up a perfect window of momentum for me to yeet myself fully into C1 in German and just keep being surrounded with the language all the time, even when I’m at home, but at this point my issue is less about not knowing the words or grammar, it’s about endurance, and i need a frickton of endurance more than where I am right now.

I’m asking myself, am I good at languages, but languages simply are difficult and take a lot of time, or am I terrible at languages, but skilled enough at forcing myself to persist? I suppose the answer to this question is just a technicality, because both paths lead to the same outcome regardless xdd

Tomorrow is the final day of the seminar, so I’ll have to endure German for a little longer, but man, languages, what a concept ^^

Because of the fatigue and mushy brain, I spent almost a full hour doing Japanese reviews today, even though I had less reviews, but hey, I finally learned the most important word:

Happy Birthday to whoever has birthday today ^^

I’m convinced that language is just SOooo much that no matter how good you are, there’s a giant slog of forcing oneself to persist just to master the basic 10,000 “basic building blocks” that every language has…
And… That you’re super-amazing !! :star_struck:

Hope you had a nice Valentine’s everyone!

Started the day with a friend of mine DMing me at 20 past midnight, just after the previous message, and I was really positively surprised aND ALSO ANNOYED SHE COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT GALENTINE’S DAY IS A THING AND SHE MISSED IT BY 20 MINUTES xddd

(side note, i also didn’t know it was a thing until i saw someone bringing it up on our work slack out of nowhere, oh well xddd)

Either way, wholesome day, 8 hours on a train, and I really like the trauma-bonding bit with friends where we all pat one another’s backs going like “yep, don’t worry, I’m there in case you don’t have a partner :slightly_smiling_face: i’m also the same :slightly_smiling_face:” xddd

German: today, my recognition of the words was pretty decent compared how exhausted I was, after the seminar finished we had a bit where we talked about Valentine’s Day and queer stuff and pets and plants and who would’ve guessed, I’m much better at talking about this than about work-related things in German xddd

The seminar taught me a ton of things and I’ll have a similar one in the second half of March in Hamburg, so I’m already conserving my language recognition levels, I really just need to rest up and not think in German for a while…
…at most until Monday xddd

Japanese: I kinda wanted to redirect my attention to this language again, so I went on NHK news to find some stories and wHOA, I guess the current presidency in America is a big deal worldwide, as more than half of the articles from the last few days are just about this xdd
But hey, I read about a panda’s Valentine’s Day gift, how cute is that C:

Tomorrow I’m full hermit mode, except for cycling downtown to grab a bubble tea and something to eat, I’ll see if I find something cool Japanese-related on the internet tomorrow ^^

See you tomorrow again!

Weird day today, as I started it doing things around the house, really happy to finally be back, and I did more things than I usually do on a lazy Saturday, maybe out of an excitement that I’m finally back and I can do those things xdd

Unfortunately, Japanese session suffered today slightly because a friend wanted to talk about vulnerable things happening in her life and I was half-committed to doing reviews and half-going like “oh my god” in my head xdd

I’m really glad she opened up, but also rip Bunpro graph. Oh well, it was for a good cause, streak maintained ^^

として grammar regularly causes troubles to me, and I read the grammar page on Bunpro to get the usages of it and it feels really broad - and then, if you add the N2 items from Bunpro that start with it, such as としては, としても, は別として, ものとして, I’m missing an idea in the middle that connects all of those grammar points

I imagine this grammar will only become easier to me if I actually get to the N2 grammars for it, and then get what connects “for”, “as a”, “the role of” and “(A) as the base point from which (B) can be determined.” - for now I’ll simply try to instinctively nod that として means “Castle Malbork as one of the biggest castles of the Middle Ages” ^^

In terms of real life today though, I went to Nordic Embassies in Berlin for a talk on women composers in film and how you can join the community and it tingled my self-actualization meter really strongly, I’d love to be a part of something bigger than myself and work together with people on it, but aside from my job, I can’t think of too many currently existing opportunities where I could realize myself.

I wonder where my knowledge of Japanese could be useful on projects with other people and working on art together, and if not Japanese, if I have any other skills that I could convert into a collaborative project to work with other people on. Oh well, if you find something, let me know, I’ll be on the lookout around the WaniKani forums for something that’d catch my eye ^^

For now, heavy day in terms of journaling and emotion processing, I’ll try to calm myself down to sleep with a funny meme or two and then rise and shine tomorrow ^^

I hope that none of you have to suffer alone and all of you have people you can trust and open up to, and if you don’t - this is a PSA from me that it’s an investment that will always pay off ^^

Take care~

There was this whole social media drama with the fact that Duo passed away, no he didn’t, you lied to me, he’s still alive and kicking >:[[[[

Maybe it’s the archival recordings from before his demise, who knows xdd
Also, to clarify, I am not a spy, though I understand that this is what a spy would probably say xddd

I did lessons for all radicals and some kanji from level 27, should retain the ~10 days per level pace moving to level 28 as well ^^

But yeah, I don’t think I’ve fully recovered over the weekend, I can blame the fact I cycled to the opposite side of the town today to a cinema (Companion, gersub xddd) and had some ramen and sushi at minus 5 degrees outside, but I think the fatigue I’m currently having is more of a mental and emotional type, rather than a physical one. I’m not necessarily in the mood for revenge bedtime procrastination tonight, but I don’t feel done with my day either, and those are the most awkward days you’re going through xddd

I’m supposed to be having a Japanese lesson tomorrow, and those lessons require a bit of mental capacity, so I’ll probably try to take it easier at work tomorrow not to bring my fatigue modes into the reserve levels, we’ll see if I succeed ^^

Two things that make me wary are the facts that:

  1. I travel again next Thursday;
  2. I haven’t really practiced Japanese much this weekend;

and I don’t know how to work around them, but oh well, that’s adult life for you. Hopefully I’ll have a more optimistic update tomorrow than today xddd

A good day in terms of Japanese for a change xddd

Today, Bunpro introduced me to the grammar I was worried about, but I knew would eventually show up, the one I knew was supposed to appear, and it finally did ;___;

Let’s say I’m supposed to know this one, let’s say my accuracy on this one is definitely lower than expected, that’s not to mention the causative grammar and the mix of passive-causative form in the future xdd
It’s good to practice it, I wonder if I’ll be able to just internalize it in the future though.

While playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, one of the most commonly heard expressions is 魔晄炉 - mako reactor, and i find it so funny how I was convinced that the word was “mako”, but the word actually is まこう, so each time the voice actors pronounce it, I find myself going like “ah yeah, the ‘o’ in this one is extended” ^^

Playing FFVII in Japanese feels weird, because I understand a lot of things and can pick up almost everything else from context, but it feels much, MUCH more exhausting than doing it in English/German and I’m just finding myself zoning out and needing to draw my attention back. To a game. Games are supposed to be fun. They’re supposed to take your attention away xdd
But yeah, it might not exactly be flow state yet. It became much better after like, 30 minutes in, but it’s still too long of a suffering to be perfectly content :upside_down_face:

Also, speaking to my Japanese teacher today, I forgot to tell him I passed an N3 exam, so I went in with a perfect pretty N3 grammar to announce that I did, and he went like いつですか, to which I blanked out and couldn’t provide even a single answer xddd

先月?
結果は一月に届いた?
二十月に受けましたけど、今だけ評価があった?

Preparing scripts for saying sentences is a completely different beast than answering them xdd

I got the results of my blood test and who would’ve thought, a significant deficiency in Vitamin D xdd
Already bought the supplements, should get a little higher in range

Went to a bubble tea place after Japanese classes, and leT ME TELL YOU how big of a joy going out at minus 10 degrees Celsius is. It’s not my first time out at a temperature like this, but I always forget the experience of going out and going like “hey, it’s not that bad”, and it only getting colder, and colder, and colder, and colder from that point on, the body heat permanently leaving your body and not recovering until you find a solace in a warmed-up environment. Also, touching things is really funny: normally, when you touch something cold, you go like “ooh, that’s chilly” and move on with your life. When you touch a cold thing, and it’s really cold outside, your body temperature never gets back up and you’ve just needlessly lost heat from your body by touching a thing, time to freeze solid now ^^

Stay warm out there!

Went to Berlinale Film Festival today for Lesbian Space Princess, love watching movies at a film festival, because the whole audience is laughing their assess off xdd
I sat right next to a freelance journalist from Australia who’s been around in the industry since before Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump and she kept telling me stories of her favorite actors she interviewed, movies that affected her the most, well, learned a ton from her ^^

Because they also had a Q&A session after the film, I started doing my Japanese lessons and review on my phone and it’s not my favorite method of learning things, I kept making the same mistakes over and over again, so I might not have gotten much in terms of conscious learning, some unconscious, yes for sure xdd

The worst offender today was this little kanji here:

that for some reason I typed as “せつ” and “set up”, until I realized that there’s no kanji that looks similar that could’ve been the kanji I mistook it with

And I looked up set up, that’s this one:

Well, let’s say that review session and listening to the Q&A at the same time was bizarre xddd

Anyway, tomorrow D&D session and on Thursday, flying over to Austria, I wonder when will I do my laundry and pack up for the trip, ehhh xdd

See you tomorrow ^^

You know, posting here on the WaniKani forums and reading other people’s study logs brings me back to the old forums of the internet in the past, I’m really glad to hear that people still find an outlet somewhere to realize themselves. I’m still not realizing myself exactlyyyy yet, that’ll only come when I join a book club or a podcast club or something, but it’s not impossible ^^

The Tobira deck I’m learning from on Bunpro is about to be finished, probably this weekend:

I wonder what I’ll switch over after that, but yeah, there are a few grammars where I go like “I dont know”, press enter to find the answer, it’s “において”, another one, “I don’t know”, press enter, it’s “において”, and I go like “I had it just a minute ago!”, but my brain doesn’t register that grammar as easily xdd

It’s another one like として where I can’t instinctively understand the underlying idea behind this grammar, but it’ll come with experience, it’ll come with time ^^

In terms of cool things in life, cycling at below zero to make it to D&D and one of the hosts baked us a banana bread I’ll be taking for my flight tomorrow, aww C:
We’ve arrived at a settlement called Golden City and it’s just as cool as the name makes it suggest, my bard will try to dance and sing and annoy everyone with her bagpipes so that I eventually become famous C:

But the next session is faaaar, faaar in the future, no D&D over March, so I’ll have to practice playing bagpipes at the comfort of my… well, I’m not practicing it xdd

I’m about to check in for the flight to Zürich, hope to write to you from Bregenz in Austria tomorrow! ^^

Unfortunately, I’m one of those who’s the loudest in a room full of introverts, and the quietest in the room of extraverts, so it’s hard to find people who match my energy exactly. I mean, 1:1 yappers are great. I loove yapping. But maybe I don’t need to, maybe I can adopt a few introverts and pretend I’m sooo extroverted I swear

Hello from Bregenz in Austria!

I memed myself into a very unfortunate situation, as the closest ski slope is 1.5h with a train from here, but I’m still intending on hitting one for a few hours at least tomorrow, I just didn’t expect that Bregenz was NOT anywhere close to a skiing resort, and I booked it through a skiing trip website, oh well xdd

Had a funny sentence today on Bunpro, where the side-text was three times as long as the actual sentences xdd

Hope that won’t be me upon snowboarding tomorrow ^^
In terms of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, I realized that that game might not be the best for learning the language, because being on a plane I went for an uninterrupted, like, 20 minutes without a single dialogue line. I still saw a few things in the menu, but what’s funny about this game is that the main menu in Japanese version of the game has categories shown in ENGLISH and a description of all of the menu positions in Japanese.

It looks something like this:

I wonder if I’ll feel like playing it on the train tomorrow? Either way, bIG DAY TOMORROW, should be fun ^^

Man, the MOUNTAINS, the SNOW, the SKY, it’s all so cool C:

Funny story here: because there isn’t any ski resort near Bregenz, one of the closest one is in a place called St. Anton am Arlberg, I took a train to it early today, had a blast and really enjoyed how big it was, though it was very pricy. I thought it was really pricy because the inflation caught up with Austria, but then I pulled out a map of the resort and found this on this one…

WHAT ARE THE ODDS I WOULD JUST RANDOMLY STUMBLE UPON ONE OF THE TOP 5 LARGEST SKI RESORTS WORLDWIDE WHILE TAKING A REGIO TRAIN???

(they’re pretty large, because i’ve already been to a few places in Tirol before and I didn’t find it before, so something needed to be it, eventually xdd)

But snowboarding is great and I already have the equipment and the skipass for tomorrow, it’s so big that most likely tomorrow I’ll be riding completely different slopes than the ones today xdd

Fun story: when I hit the slope first, I immediately went like “oh lord, im so out of shape, why is moving my legs so difficult” and it took me an hour of falling down and struggling to remember that snowboarding is all about balance and not strength and I don’t need to push so much to make easy and gentle turns, oopsie daisy xdd

Anyway, Japanese!

Decided not to continue FFVII today, it’s a huge game and I probably won’t enjoy playing it much in Japanese right now, so I gave a shot to the first few hours of Yakuza 0: guys literally want just one thing and it’s freaking disgusting: for their bro to be safe and grow healthy and happy ;_; xd

Theater kids will save the world, I’m telling you xdd

Did the final Level 27 lessons today on WaniKani, 5 days until promotion, had a really annoying word in the lessons pile today:

After I spent forever learning that 従 means “obey” 従来 means something like “followed until now”, there’s a completely new meaning for the word of 従える, to be accompanied by. Yes, of course that’ll be easy to remember xddd

I need to learn this word as an exception rather than a rule and maybe things will get a bit easier xdd

Meanwhile,

Matrix spoilers or The Substance spoilers or some shit idk i didnt watch it (i watched both xdd)

Have a nice weekend yall!

Haha I was mad about the same thing, so I made my English-based mnemonic “Sh1t, I gotta take you with me”- type thing sh1t, I gotta→したがえ

XD そうですね
Always have, always will

I’m making a mental note of this
but I’m still too scared for my weak ankles to try it… Just the weight of schlepping the board around on the one foot in between runs would put me out of commission for a few months

Glad you stumbled across such a jewel and are having a great time with it
Gorgeous!!!

I have no idea why is today my cake day, did I really create my account today? I don’t remember that being the case, 2019 or something? xddd

  • Misc: 1.5h of Yakuza 0 again, but bad news: lost my headphones on the slope, no more japanese listening tomorrow ;___; xd
    And I started getting into the story already ;_;

Ahh, winter paradise C:

Came to the slopes even earlier today, but by 4pm my legs were aching strong already, so disregard the “strength is not needed” remark from yesterday, you DO need some strength to maintain the stamina levels xddd

Had some hot chocolate today, bought a swimsuit and went swimming in the thermal waters after snowboarding!

It’s just so pretty all around, I love the concept of skiing villages (Wintersportort, of course German has a word for it xdd) because it just feels like everyone is connected through the idea of doing some sport together ^^

I’m planning everything on the fly and minutes before things transpire, so I’m not 100% sure what I’ll be doing tomorrow yet, but I’m definitely planning on seeing Liechtenstein (and getting Slowly poststamps and getting a pin on Google Maps) and maybe going cross-country skiing in St. Anton??? That’ll depend on my stamina levels tomorrow ^^
And, before 9pm, flying back to Berlin, should give me a full day of fun tomorrow though ^^

JAPANESE
Yes I lost my headphones on the way back :sob:
I love how pretentious the language used in Yakuza 0 is, full of archaic forms and growly voices, fun to listen to, but I’d HAAATE talking to those people xdd

On the note of Bunpro, I finished the Tobira textbook grammar today!

Did 5 lessons instead of 3 to celebrate, as a tiny treat xdd
New textbook’s grammars, Quartet, should finish pretty quickly, as I only had like 20-30ish that I haven’t done yet, but hey, new grammars are new grammars.

WaniKani was pretty smooth today, though my critical condition items could beg to disagree xdd

I’ll try to go on a more indepth grind of Japanese next week, for now I’m both mentally and emotionally dying, see you tomorrow everyone! Take care ^^

22 kilometers of running in the snow. Definitely harder than snowboarding, because you don’t get to have a “now we’re going to be ascending for the next 10 minutes, sit back and relax” card to play, you just keep going, and how amazing it was.

I’m writing back from Berlin, managed to make it back home, almost in one piece, just some blisters and red spots here and there xddd

Since it’s my LINGUISTICS thread, I’ll run you through some terrible punny clothing items I discovered today.

This coat is such a benger C:

These shirts are peak, I swear xdd

Too bad those ones are sold out, how sad xddd

Anyway, enough spam, the winter holiday weekend was great and it feels like one full eternity has passed since I left (and I’m starting work in 8h42m from the moment I’m writing this, also, Japanese classes tomorrow, I’m exhausted as frick xddd)

In terms of JAPANESE:

The kanji for alone is really funny

…mostly because it combines with so many other kanji and forms so many distinct meanings xdd

If I were to pinpoint my favorite ones, they’d be, 独占, because you have to wrap your head to get this one, 独裁, because it’s nowhere close to my first guess for the combination for those two kanji, and 独身, because I end up writing “alone” and WaniKani goes like “yeaH ALONE BUT HOW SO” until you backspace it out and go like “single” xddd

It’s really convenient and useful though ^^
