Before Kumirei left, we were left with this Magnum Opus:

And it stopped working, because WaniKani removed jQuery, but then somebody else just told to add an extra line into requries for Tampermonkey and it works xdd

I STILL CANT BELIEVE 下る IS THERE LAUGHING AT ME AFTER NOT HAVING BEEN BURNT XDDDD

But yeah, today I took お誕生日おめでとう to Enlightened, hooray important words xdddd

Quick Japanese today, I was surprised I did Bunpro in like… 10 minutes, I’ve almost forgotten what it feels like xdd
Well, with the failures won’t be this way forever xddd

OK LIFE EVERYONE YALL I DID PERFORM ON THE STAGE TODAY
Today’s theme was “Kopfkino”, so anything from adorable imagination to maladaptive daydreaming, and there were a ton of reeeally horny people, I actually got claps and cheers when I announced that my poem is actually going against the grain and is about asexuality xddd

But I theater kided the poem and I was really happy with how dynamic my range felt, my hands shaked, yes, but my heavily modulated voice didn’t and I had audience participate in mine by repeating the same mantra over and over again, so we did it, I’m officially one of the theater kids now xddd

It was fun talking to people afterwards and a lot of people had poems on their own, with varying levels of competence and vulnerability, but I met a few interesting people today: one I liked talking to the most was deep into spirituality and had a poem about her relationship with her mom, which felt really soul-touching, so that was really sweet ^^

I was wearing the pendant I made two weeks ago with the Japanese mantra I added inside:

and a few people asked about it and were curious about the texts ^^

bUT IF I WERE TO SAY SOMETHING. I JUST HAAAAAATE stale smoke. It’s like, OH MAN. The windows this week were closed down because it was cold outside, and you’re sitting there as far from smokers as you can, but for some reason smoking is allowed in this bar, and you can feel the tar just being accumulated on the lungs with every passing minute.

and i HAAATE how normalized it is to do it in art circles in Berlin xddd
That’s one of the reasons why I wasn’t engaging with them as much as I could, now I remember what the reason was :sob:

On my way back, I felt like I breathed twice as hard as usual just to be able to cycle back home, and more than a dozen kilometers, so let me tell you, smoking indoors might be a hard no for me. Also, funnily enough, my rest calorie intake is like 1700 and today I’ve burnt like… 3680? A bit of it because I cycled a lot, a bit because lung capacity, ehhh.

I felt really welcomed by the community and I’m definitely curious about their lives and would love to check up more about them, but I might skip next week because of the smoke, and then might skip a few more months because of Easter, flying to America and then German classes on Thursday, so I might have to look around for a different place if I wanted to shout things out from the top of my lungs, like one that doesn’t poison my lungs along the way xddd

But yeah, tons of vulnerable conversations and I might bring one of those in a future post ^^

For now, take care and see you tomorrow!

Thiiiiiisssss. I feel this. It’s gross enough in the moment but even if I can ignore it for the duration of the event I am WRECKED the next day, it’s awful!

Congratulations on your performance though!! That’s such a cool thing to do!

I had a wild start to the session on WaniKani today.

I don’t think anything like this’s ever happened before xddd
I eventually ended up dropping to 95%, but still, the first part was just flying.

I sometimes say that WaniKani is basically my meditation for a given day and I always try to meditate on different things writing reviews, but when you have a run this clean, yes, of course you get to meditate on different things ^^

And today’s silly “how come it doesn’t stick with me” review for the day: “だそうだ”, I heard that that one’s not that popular, but because of that I simply don’t have many reference points for it xddd

Life!

OI FRICK OFF xddd
I woke up after 5 hours of sleep today and couldn’t fall asleep after that, gasping harder and turning from one side of the bed to the other xddd

I’m still glad I remained relatively high-functioning throughout the course of the day and I’m feeling much better today, but I’m sooooooo sleepy :sob: xddd

I caught up on four episodes of the new season of Black Mirror today and alternated subs between German and Japanese (xdd), I wonder how much did I get from the subtitles, but as above in this thread: Japanese subs for shows feel like they’re skipping a ton of context and bring an entire sentence into one or two words at a time, so it’s fun to see like “it’s obviously not our fault” to stuff like “責任ではない” xddd

This season is surprisingly REALLY GOOD. Every episode I’ve seen so far hit, and the first episode disturbed me and made me really angry, knowing that it’s no longer just a sci-fi series, it’s just a documentary of people living their lives in 2025 xddd

Then, went to the cafe where I made my pendant and the owner in there is very chatty and very welcoming and wants to make friends and wants me to be a regular as well, I went in to grab a takeaway hot chocolate before D&D and I ended up being late for D&D because we argued Rick Riordan vs. Brandon Sanderson xddd

The cafe (Curious Fabrications) is crafty, there are five sewing machines available to anyone and there’s a big sign in front of it saying “spend your whole day in here!”, I won’t take this invitation until after my America trip at least xddd

I’m so behind on arts & crafts recently, there’s a few events at my local library too but I simply haven’t signed up for them yet :sob:

And D&D, one wild thing about the session was that everyone agreed on the time for the next session for 12 DAYS FROM NOW. It almost never happens, imagine not having to wait an eternity for the next one xdddd

I went on a stage in a tavern and had an Orcish performance with both pretending I sing in Orcish (I don’t know Orcish) and I dance the way how Orcish performers would (I’ve never seen Orcs dance), and I was able to get 5 Gold Pieces in tips, so slayyyy :nail_polish:

So based on the history of posts above, you might be thinking that I’m off to an anime convention tomorrow: sadly, I agreed to help my bouldering guy friend with moving and that bouldering girl is joining us for a furniture disassembly and then for a dinner, so adventures are about to kick off in 10 hours!
I’m still intending on parting ways with my money at an Artist’s Alley on a Sunday though ^^

See you tomorrow!

Aaand halfway through level 32! Learned the second half of the kanjis today, should get to level 33 sometime next week ^^

Before then, it’s always scary when your review forecast starts having this bulge:

I imagine it’s the burns that accumulated over a while and I’ll have another 175+ session on Monday most likely ^^

On the note of things that escape my attention, i’m not very good with:

I know there’s two main usages of this kanji, like 予想通り and 予想外, but regardless of me knowing what those characters should be, it’s grown to be my biggest leach across the whole wordset ;___;

Life! Yep, went bouldering today with a friend, managed to climb up a few climbs i wasn’t able to do in the previous weeks at all and I might be grinding balance the next time I go bouldering.

Unfortunately, that might not happen for multiple weeks, because Easter next week, then I’m in Paris, then I’m in America, so my calendar is getting wrecked around the place.

Also:

Bouldering hands content warning, open at your own risk xddd

Ouch xddd
I tried applying a hand lotion and a hand creme today and we’ll see if my palms manage to heal from this ^^

Then we went to my friend’s place and the three of us helped my friend get rid of the biggest pieces of furniture and pack stuff in the boxes, we took out the furniture waste just in front of the block of flats and marked it as “zu verschenken” for free, that’s one way of dealing with waste in Berlin xdd

And then our friend, to thank us, invited us to a Pakistani restaurant and paid for the three of us, tons of food, tons of money, the time flew by today and we’ve spent looong hours together ^^

Remember the conversation about secure attachment styles from above? I’m trying not to take this friendship for granted and trying to enjoy while it lasts, but I remembered why different styles of attachment appear for me: I like spending time with people that are cool and I grow attached to them thinking that if I do XYZ to myself, we’ll just keep doing those things together longer and more often: I’m not sure how much it applies in practice, but it’s definitely a trap that I fall into quite often ^^

It’s possible we only have one meeting until the middle of May to go, so I should turn off the overthinking machine and go with the flow… …but I like the way they are and I like the way they see me and I like spending time and hangin out and

yknow

chillin

xdddd

Going to an anime convention tomorrow, should have a few fun pics! See you tomorrow!

fr how easy n4 grammar on bunpro is by comparison like frfr :sob:
There are some sentences that are labeled as “despite something” and I go like “にもかかわらず???”, but no, make no mistake…

…it’s のに xdddd

Also, my brainrot word of the week definitely is carpet,

whether you’re in the house like carpet or you just like Toby Foxing around, there is a car pet, car pit, car, pet or something for you ^^

Life:

I realized how beneficial to me writing this study log is in terms of accountability and keeping myself up for adventures, because waking up today I abSOLUTELY didn’t feel like going for the anime convention, and after 11 hours or sleep (and making sure I didn’t have any brain implants that would require more energy to power my brain, wink wink Black Mirror) I just had static noise in front of at least my sight and hearing, I don’t know about the other senses xdd

But, I already promised myself I’ll do a report from MMC Berlin and so I did, here’s ya local correspondent girl reporting from the Berlin anime convention ^^

It’s the smallest anime convention I’ve ever been to. It was held in a high school in the strictly-German side of Berlin, and so, even more people and even more events were held exclusively in German there. The artists alley was like, maybe 60 artists in total? They still had really cool things and I ended up using my German a bit in there, and bought a few nice things, pics below, including the German published version of The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t A Guy At All that @nerdqueen666 was nerding about, which I couldn’t find in Berlin at all ^^

In terms of events, I caught a few auctions, an anime quiz (organized in the exact same format and by the same people as the one in my local library), a dance performance, some japanese-themed discussion panels, was really neat ^^

In terms of artists, it’s always a tough gamble for artists to choose between doing something popular (and there was a lot of Genshin and Zelda and the usual) and doing something for a little audience, but making that audience ecstatic when they finally find something for themselves (I FOUND A PROFESSOR LAYTON STICKER ARTIST :DDDDDD), got plenty of business cards and will be gluing things to my walls ^^

Obligatory, anime cars in front of the school, sometimes with pron pillows inside of them:

another alley in addition to the artists alley for small local german businesses with japanese merch and manga publishers to sell their products, food and cafe section with crazy overpriced japanese imports and bubble tea, some CDs with music, retro magazines, retro manga, retro games (and new Switch games at double the price for some reason) and ahhh, a karaoke respite, and I sat there for a while and clapped people’s best attempts at jpop idol songs they weren’t even close to hitting the highest notes of xddd

All in all, glad I came and enjoyed myself, had some edamame on the way back C:

I don’t even have to wonder how does this one compare to PAX East next month because OOF but I’ll definitely keep you updated for that one too xddd

Tomorrow, a meetup with cherry blossoms, vegan Taiyaki and japanese tea in a cooking tandem, will try to talk to people a bit too, and Tuesday, hopefully I’ll finally be able to crash out, because I definitely did not rest after this weekend in the slightest (but I had a fantastic time every day) (but I definitely did not rest xddd)

See you tomorrow! C:

There was one word in the earlier levels called:

and I remember going all the time with every review like “uuuu i wont remember that its たべほうだい the next time I review it”, but it seems I remembered it every step until burn, so good for me! I’ll forget this word in a month though, I swear xdd

Also, my Bunpro graph is turning totally wonky:

not 100% through my own fault, but some of it is self inflicted xdd
I’m still keeping a 134 day streak of day by day study every single day, at 135 days since I took JLPT N3 ^^

There is a chance I’m worse at Japanese than when I’ve been doing JLPT N3, because I haven’t done speaking/listening in a while, but in May my Japanese classes should come back and I’ll do some book clubs/reading magazines until then, so we should be good ^^

I should probably divert my attention to Japanese study a bit more, but hey, self-discovery is also important xdddd

So today I did taiyaki in a park with people :DDDD
Of course, as usual, it’s on the completely opposite part of the town compared to where I live xdd

The weather was really nice, we’ve had 18 Celsius outside, golden hour in front of sakura trees really made that evening feel more special ^^

The organizer just wanted for all of us to come together and make some food together, no ulterior motives, no big Friending promises or pyramid schemes, just taiyaki and tea with their utensils and kitchenware. But those people have the most golden hearts, so we stan ^^

The meetup was Japanese-themed, but as it quickly turned out, people were more interested in Japanese culture rather than Japanese language, so didn’t get to practice it at all xddd

Had some conversations about deers in Nara, beef from Kobe, spending money on 焼肉, 北海道お好み焼き vs 大阪お好み焼き, and also Hololive, very important xddd

A few people had heard of WaniKani, but either were paused or didn’t want to spend money on it, so booo, no new friends from the forum xdd

My absolute favorite conversation was with a woman who finished a business degree with a Japanese specialty and spent some time a decade ago in Japan, and talking about why she decided to go back, what kind of adventures she was through and currently is in Berlin, and how can she use her expertise to tie different specialties and personalities together.

The last one was really interesting to me, because, shocker, I have like 50 personalities and I show a given personality to a given person depending on the environment that I’m in, and the personalities don’t tend to intersect with one another very much, but that woman had a very interesting life and now she’s trying to find common threads that could tie all those small lives inside of her into one big life she would be able to make money off be proud of xddd

So yeah, yappin, been yappin every single day since Thursday last week and I really, reeeeally think I need to give myself a break tomorrow and open up the big journaling Google Doc and put in some thoughts about where Project Me is headed next, and I have an idea of what to do on a Wednesday already, but don’t want to spoil it yet ^^

See you tomorrow!

  • 1 lesson on Duolingo + 1 chat with Lily, was weird xdd

I called Lily on Duolingo today and she asked me “お元気ですか” and I was like "はい!はい!元気!でもさ。。。”, and then she started talking over me, and then she was like “英語が話せますか?” and I was like "言語の学ぶのは私の趣味だ。。。” and then she started talking over me and was like "おけ〜またね” and I was like “what???” xdddd

I’m relatively convinced that at one point in the future AI can be used as a pretty good proposal for people that would like to learn languages, but that day isn’t today and that service isn’t Duolingo yet xddd

I’ve had some luck with setting Gemini to German and ranting about my day, but then it wouldn’t correct me even if I asked it explicitly to do so, so I’m sorry, I’m still team humankind xddd

But today’s reviews were pretty quick and snappy, even though Bunpro was long, N4 grammars are significantly easier to clear on Bunpro, so even the large number didn’t intimidate me that much C:

Also, something I forgot to mention, my Nintendo Switch wouldn’t turn on and I sent it to repair and apparently it’s being sent back to me now, so maybe I’ll have it back for the weekend, would be really neat ^^

But yeah, life:
Tape 2 of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage came out and… it good! I’m only like an hour in today, but it’s really immersive and it feels as if You’re Really There ^^

Unfortunately, like previously, I realize that I’m not making the best choices for Swann and there are some choices where I go like “yep girl, you can pull this line off, that person will love it”, and Swann’s voice breaks and her relationship with that character worsens and I go like “NOOO SORRY SWANN I FAILED YOU” xdd

It might be my favorite narrative game with inconsequential choices since Life is Strange 2 came out, I can’t say perfectly I’m having fun clicking the wrong dialogue boxes for Swann and maybe aligning her with the not-100%-healthy relationships with other people, but better to have loved and had a broken heart than not to have loved at all ^^

A friend of mine on Discord interrupted me along the way and she sent me an itch.io game, this one:
Crossroads by May Barros
which is like, really sweet, maybe even sickly so xdd

There aren’t any stakes in it, being a human interpersonal relationship boundary scholar is a personal hobby of mine (and the reason why I’m so stiff xddd), so seeing how this game just respects all of boundaries just puts me in like “okay :slightly_smiling_face:” and then the game says that you’re still friends with people regardless, which, like… it’s a bit too vanilla for me xddd

After finishing meditating to WaniKani today, I spent like an hour making my own game with relationships with people and regularly crossing boundaries and this one is luck based, so you can either win it or lose it :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face: xddd

I’m really happy that I was able to code this much in an hour, because normally I’m having troubles finding restraint and end up having new ideas until 4am, but this time I was like “let’s wrap up what I already have”, did some bug bashing and here it is xdd

And I’m back to work in 7h30m from now, so time to go and brush my teeth and put an end to this day ^^

I’m going to a writers’ meetup tomorrow for FLINTA*/BIPOC people, I’m staying a bit open minded (translation: I have no idea what to expect) and looking forward to meeting new people tomorrow ^^

See you tomorrow! C:

Because yesterday felt so fast doing the reviews, I took my time today and had some example sentences from words on WaniKani, my word for today is gotta be , because I went on an extra search to find out that neither Pokemon Conquest (ポケモン+ノブナガの野望) nor The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve (大逆転裁判2 -成歩堂龍ノ介の覺悟-) use that word xddd

Ironically enough, exclusion makes this word easier to remember, so こころざし might be my biggest takeaway from today xddd

I also scored 250 days on Duolingo today:

…and I felt really good about it until I saw the video by That Japanese Man Yuta about Duolingo:

…that I will still continue on doing, but I didn’t realize that the AI-generated sentences through Duolingo mess up the pitch accent so much :eyes:
I’m kinda feeling like pitch accent is becoming this boogeyman term recently like "ooo you’ll never speak japanese until your pitch accent is perfect you need to practi-

ハコウ ハコウ 鬼のパンツ(あなたも私もあなたもあなたも)

there is a printed piece of paper in the bouldering hall i go to that says “the best climber is the one that has the most fun” C:

well that’s not me with japanese, but you get the point xddd

So, life, didn’t go to the meetup for writers because I sent an email to ask if they had any places left and they told me that no, and they prioritize writers that are trans and BIPOC at the same time, and I was like :sob: :sob: :sob: xdd

Not a huge tragedy though, I assembled two Ikea standing lamps at home and they feel really, really cozy and homely, and as I was feeling cozy and homely I reworked my anime wall above my TV, this is how it looks like right now!

Would love to invite you to my flat, there are so many things about it I like that I could yap for hours for just the contents of them xddd

Anyway, I’m feeling a bit sleepy today, so I’ll just wrap here and I’ll be seeing you all tomorrow~~~ C:

I got really far with Duolingo French and after 15 min/day for a year I managed to be conversational enough to get my car repaired while on holiday in France with a non-English speaking mechanic, so Duo certainly has a place in my heart.

But for non-European languages…

his critique of Duolingo Japanese hits it - yeah wow, it’s even worse than when I decided not to use it 4 or 5 years ago, that is sad. It’s not just pitch, he’s focusing on that, but he also gives examples of so many words where they are just saying the wrong reading for the context. That is a tough thing to learn long term and Duolingo feeding the incorrect readings for eg 入り and things like that - it will cause a big headache later if your head is full of really basic mistakes for things like いり vs はいり. imo that alone is worth ditching it for.

He also makes an excellent point, a learner should want to feed their brain with natural speech, even if it’s not expected for a non-native speaker to have perfect pitch. The educational starting point should be high quality. Just because we don’t expect perfection from a learner doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have high standards for the learning resources.

I don’t know anything about this guy or what he’s selling, but yeah, just wanted to say, I agree. Those duo Japanese clips were grating and unnatural to even me  he’s not putting on a show of wincing and rolling his eyes. It really is that bad.

pitch

Not just recently. It’s just an easy money grab preying on people (especially those who have never learned any foreign language) who have the unrealistic ideal to reach “native fluency”. Of course, there will be more experienced people who may have a specific need for better pitch, or an experienced polyglot who makes an informed choice to go this route - fine. But the campaigns I have seen are clearly there to grab money from people with wildly inaccurate fantasies about what it means to be “fluent” (that fun word that can burn down almost any thread on reddit)

I have no doubt it’s hard to correct pitch for someone who learned Japanese without hearing it and unknowingly reinforcing all sorts of unnatural pitches in their heads for years (or more recently, used AI bots to learn). But what doesn’t make money is just common sense advice - just knowing pitch exists from the start and maybe spending enough time making sure one can distinguish it (and other aspects like vowel length and rhythm timing etc), and then after that, just spending half a brain cell when listening to pay attention to it, shadowing a bit of what is listened to, really is going to be enough for most people to sound pleasant enough

Anyway, what I would recommend instead if you want to build a new streak and support team human is Satori - they use native professional voice actors to narrate all stories :blue_heart:

That was a pretty neat shoutout, I knew it existed but never bothered to use the service in more detail and made an account on it today, listened to three stories, and, hmm.

This rant has multiple angles to it, I’ll approach it like Dante’s Inferno where we’ll go down with every respective ring of hell xddd

第一地獄: Satori Rant

The content I played around with today was pretty wholesome and I liked it. I just wish there was more of it xddd

And Satori comes with a subscription plan that’s strictly necessary to enjoy a significant part of the content, I still would take a few more days to go through the free content available on the website, so I don’t have to make a decision whether to subscribe today.

In terms of dropping the content though, it seems there are 3 regular shows right now that drop only 3 things a week, which wouldn’t be that much in terms of keeping streak, but there is a wide library of content available already, so catching up would take a while.

I really wish there was something like a lifetime license, because I like, hm, “owning” japanese tools and knowing they’re always by my side when I need them: my three favorite purchases so far have been Japanese Kanji Study, WaniKani and Bunpro in chronological order and I still refer to all three ^^

第二地獄: WaniKani Rant

…though I don’t know how I feel about lifetime subscriptions for ever-evolving platforms, I’m still angry at WaniKani for removing the Summary page and Review endpoint and losing all the data from 2020 and so on, and even though I understand why a SaaS company would do something like this to limit the server upkeep, I paid for something I no longer have, and that’s making me a bit more distrustful in services like WaniKani or Satori Reader or Bunpro in the future ;_;

So maybe monthly subscriptions really is the way to go?

第三地獄: MaruMori Rant

See, if I really wanted to start spending my money on something I know I most likely would use, I’d go for MaruMori, I have a feeling that their content is really well organized and I love all of the different ways of interacting with Japanese that take a bit longer to become stale than WaniKani and Bunpro, and I really have a feeling I could enjoy myself with that platform if I were to set my mind towards it…

第四地獄: Immersion Rant

…but like, why would I even pay a nauseating $350 for a service if just as well I could simply use native immersion content, I have my Nintendo Switch back, I could finish Famicom Detective Club: it checks every box for me, is engaging, is long-form, has kanji I understand, has full voice acting, I just could keep on powering through and then I’d get so much of it.

And what about book clubs? I’m a bit behind both of my current ones, but I have the manga volumes just ahead of me! What could teach me Japanese better than just digging into the volumes by myself!

And Language Reactor! It’s so good at watching Crunchyroll or Netflix or YouTube and just adding subtitles everywhere, not to mention that I have Yomitan in my browser and I can just highlight any Japanese news story and understand 100% of it!

I should be immersing myself with free materials instead…

第五地獄: Japanese Rant

But we’re at a local minimum in terms of my interest in Japanese language in the first place xddd
It feels like every passing day is giving me yet another reason to be disinterested in consuming native content, which is a similar thing to what happened in the second half of 2020 for me when I was grinding Japanese every day and it simply stopped being fun. For now, the fact my review load still is manageable and the fact I meditate through doing reviews is keeping me on the ship, but I’m getting less interest with Japanese language as a construct with every passing day

And it’s okay, Japanese has ebbs and flows, sometimes comes, sometimes goes. In a way I’m glad I have structure to my review, and also this forum, but it makes me care more about this structure and this forum than the actual Japanese language by itself xddd

I don’t know, maybe I just need to have a good night’s sleep, or a good week of nights of sleep xddd

But yeah, Japanese is less fun with every passing day and I should probably start looking for things that would be fun BECAUSE of language and not DESPITE of it, if you have any advice, shoot this way ^^

whew xddd

What a surprise, he has his own speak-Japanese-like-a-native course xddd

I don’t want to come across as very judgmental here, but I know of a stereotype of Americans in Europe claiming that they never have a reason to learn more than one language and they obsess over the idea of being “fluent” at one other language to compensate for the insecurity towards other countries of knowing just English.

But aside from the stereotype, my mom also falls into that thinking pattern, being like “hey daughter, how many languages are you fluent at?”, and my answer ranges from 0 to 4 depending on a day :sob: xddd

IM LEVEL 33 :DDDDD

The level of very useful kanji indeed, such as (groin) and (fart) xdddd

I love WaniKani’s attempt at circling around those words not to say them out loud, but as a side consequence it makes it a bit harder for me to remember what the actual definition provided by WaniKani is xddd

In terms of Satori Reader, I found the stories I listened to today to be just about the right level, it’s really neat when you have the text right in front of your eyes because your brain connects listening to the actual kanji underneath. The kanji in all three stories I’ve been listening today have been pretty simple, as in, I really like getting to the level of being comfortable with kanji where its reading pops up in your head immediately, no “hmmm is it でんかがいった? でんぱ?, no, it’s instantly 電話が鳴った”, I imagine that this is the fabled “flow state” language scholars have been talking about xddd

I’ll see tomorrow if I feel like doing Satori Reader, my attention was being held for just the minute or two it was necessary to follow the story, so maybe I could keep going?

Anyway, life!

I went to an electronics market today and left a ton of money in there xdd

Here’s a painful reminder I haven’t drawn anything in years at this point, and that I won’t be able to afford a Remarkable paper tablet, and that even if I could (I probably can xdd), I would probably never use it because I simply stopped taking analogue notes forever ago ;_; xddd

There is one toy called Nintendo Clock Alarmo I was convinced you could only get in My Nintendo Store:

…but somehow they had it at my local Media Markt, and they had it at a substantial discount :eyes:

So I got one of those, I connected it to the outlet and remembered that I don’t need to set up an alarm clock for tomorrow beCAUSE ITS EASTER BREAK TIME :DDDD

i still could because im curious about the movement detection mechanism and i would like for the music to play, but I need to give myself a window of like, 12 hours to sleep and recover xdddd

Then, my Nintendo Switch came back and I bought it a bigger microSD card because I flooded the old one with my redownloads and didn’t have space for games I’ll probably never play again but still would like to have on the console xdd

Through all of this, I realized that I can also use the Switch card to update my storage on the Steam Deck, and I’ve initiated a painfully long and drawn out process of moving stuff from SD cards onto SD cards and let me tell you, it takes a while xdddd

I got a friend of mine into Severance and she’s going down the rabbit hole of every episode being darker than the previous one, in case you’re still on the fence, give it a try!

And yeah, definitely YouTube day today, watched the new Content Cop, watched a video essay on different rereleases of the original Ys game, learned how people are poisoning AI algorithm crawlers with tar pits, learned about ins-and-outs of blood industry, it kinda does feel like wasting time, but for some reason I really like learning those completely unrelated facts and I go like “KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, I FEEL SO SMART” after going through these xdd

It’s that level of preferring to watch somebody talk about a playthrough of a game than playing the game on your own already xddddd

Anyway, SOOO looking forward to having a long sleep tonight and Saturday and Sunday should be more busy, I’m only back to work on Wednesday and only for two days, and then, the big East Coast tour~

See you tomorrow!

Just pointing out you used your real name. If you don’t mind people knowing ignore me. But if you do mind, if it slipped out and you didn’t notice, you might wanna edit that out.

Edited the post (and op) just in case, but I’m fully aware that at least a few things I’ve written above do make it easy for the persona on WaniKani to connect me to even more details of myself on the internet. It’s a weird thing, privacy, that you both want to be open and welcoming to people, but there’s just this one bad apple in every hundred apples that ruins the sharing experience for everyone ^^

Oh well, I’ll try not to use the word for my first name here, but simultaneously being aware that if anyone wanted to look me up, they probably will, so I shouldn’t be sharing my address or phone number or anything anywhere on the internet :head_shaking_vertically:

Thank you! The “mom” in me freaked out (but also said “hi”) and was glad that RebBlue gave you the “heads up”
Better safe than sorry
(Yes, I’ve had a few stalkers (not from here) and it sucked)

YOUR FIRST NAME IS YOUR NICKNAME LIKE CMON xddddd

Yeah, also used to have a stalker, that person thought they were doing the right thing by getting interested in me, but they wouldn’t respond to the Constructive Criticism that this is not the way how I would like to be interested in, so, oh well. Needless to say, he’s blocked from all services I have ^^

Same here. I’m not a real Rebecca. I chose it because there are so many Rebeccas that doesn’t stand out. My irl name is too unique, but at least I’m no longer on the first page of google results. (It’s a shame because I like my name, but it’s just too risky.)

Just caught up on a bunch of updates, sorry for the spam of likes haha. Really enjoy reading your updates, you seem like such a fun person to be around, maybe one day I’ll have a chance to even say hi, as I have a brother living in Berlin

Nice that you’re giving Satori a try! I can definitely vouch for it. It helped me build stamina when I was at the beginning of my studies, and I still learn things everyday through it (as you’ve seen there’s a lot of content, I’m going 2 episodes a day so there material for more than 2 years). It’s like when you participate in a book club and someone explains something cool but concentrated in 3-4 cool explanations an episode. Plus the voicing, plus many different styles of writing and story and level of difficulty! And lastly, for me who relies heavily on technology to read in Japanese (mokuro manga first, read on computer, look ups with Yomichan etc), whenever I’m on the road I’m so grateful I can use Satori Reader from the app on my phone!
Alright I’ll stop here for now, I swear this post wasn’t sponsored by Satori Reader :joy:

Haha nice rant

For the whole subscription vs lifetime, yeah, I think lifetime is risky and I would only consider that for a service I knew well and I could see why they were doing it, ie it’s early days of a dev and they need cash, or a product with no expectation of change / updates. Anything on the Internet needs updates eventually and lifetime feels unrealistic, I would still only bank on 3-5 years. Max.

On the face of it, Satori doesn’t look like a good fit for a subscription model, but after having subscribed, I can 100% say it’s justified and worth it: it’s tech based and they keep it updated, they have a system for getting feedback and they roll out enhancements all the time - normally 1-2 major per year and loads of minor ones (2 of my requests made it through while I was a subscriber), and most importantly, the developer is incredibly good at explaining stuff and answers questions on the stories, and those get condensed into lessons, articles and glosses he’ll point you to and it’s getting easier to search for them. Gold.

There’s really no reason to own it either, one you learn enough on there, you’re set free with a level that for me was a smooth transition to native materiel. There is a sweet spot for Satori when the difficulty is just right and you learn a lot - it can be really fun.

It’s not for everyone and I suggest just try and commit to the next step if you enjoy it: free, then subscribe monthly, then if you’re consistent subscribe yearly. If money is any issue then keep an eye on it as there are about 2 major sales per year. They don’t do affiliate marketing and they haven’t raised their prices in years. I :blue_heart: Satori if you can’t tell  I started that whole appreciation thread I linked to and there are loads of tips there!

Haha now I see Akashelia joined in :sweat_smile:as you can see Satori has some devoted followers!
