Got you! All sounds good to me, thanks for managing things.
Thanks! And no problem . It’s actually starting to look like something and as I was editing I got a weird sense of accomplishment even this early with only half of the VN done. I’m sure once we complete episode 4 and then we look back on it with the home post fully done it will be really nice, actually visualising how long we’ve come and how much we’ve done, while finally seeing the 700k characters or whatever it ends up being. I’m confident it will be a good morale boost to tackle similar or longer VNs in the future. Of course on top of the main club picks. It’s actually really nice in a sense to measure things in character counts for Japanese stuff in particular, it’s a weirdly pleasant metric.
Psst, I hate to mention it after votes have already been cast, but the poll still has the そろいろ title.
More of an exception than the norm, but I’m still super proud of what I did last week
Good to see the next episode on the horizon. I’ve been excitedly watching the coverage numbers going up on my jpdb deck for it and episode 2 has definitely gotten me more excited for the characters in general.
If we extrapolate the episode 2 pace, it’s about 4 months or so to finish a normalish length VN. That’s already a huge leap from where we started and definitely something to be proud of. JPDB is a bit inflated, but with the new episode epilogue thing they have about 839k for the whole series. Now that yall have finished a more normal length episode I think it’s pretty fair say it’s not just possible, but an inevitability as long as the club stays together. Woooo!
Of course the copypaste editing would come biting back . Luckily that bit is outside of the poll itself (wdym??? Completely intended
stolen from Daisoujou’s original poll, cough) so it’s an easy fix. Thanks!
That’s so much reading, wowee . So that means we should go for 60k weeks, noted
. You all prepare!
It’s here!
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 1 thread:
Also if you could remove the " // Soon " part of the title <3 .
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 2 thread:
Shorter week this time. I kept going but after this point until around 29k it’s all linked, and after that it still continues the previous events so it was going to get over 30k. Better suited for next week.
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 3 thread:
@Daisoujou Thanks! Sorry it gets quite boring with the 3 posts restriction . I’m bothering you again in 3 weeks.
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 4 thread:
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 5 thread:
Need a combo breaker again (*‘ω‘ *) .
I got you.
9-nine Episode 3, Week 6 thread:
Shorter week again this time, the next proper endpoint was around 30k… ;u;
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 7 thread:
The endpoint this time is sort of in the middle of an on-going scene, ish? But it starts a new development after that for a while so it feels like a stop. It has one of those scene transition “blackouts” so it’s easy to spot but be careful regardless and check the screenshot to confirm. :3
We’re at 172k characters at the moment, it’s very likely that next week will be the last, depending on how much of a cliffhanger it creates and/or how short one more week would seem, but honestly I don’t think it will be needed (JPDB marks 199k). I still will try not to make it longer than 30k if that is the case, though as always, last week will go for two weeks before we start Episode 4.
9-nine- Episode 3, Week 8 [END] thread:
And that’s officially another episode down . Congrats again to everyone who has made it this far, and for the ones that will in the future! It was funnily enough 2k characters shorter than Episode 2, pretty close.
This would make July 28th the start date of Episode 4, which coincidentally is the start date of Fatal Twelve. If this is an issue we can either move it one week early to July 21st, or one week later to August 4th. Personally I would avoid pushing it to August, with the end of the VN drawing closer it might kill a chunk of the momentum from Episode 3’s ending, but ultimately it comes down to what we want as a group so let me know your thoughts . For me either 21st or 28th are both good, I don’t mind starting when Fatal Twelve does because I won’t be reading 999 by then anymore, so it’s just a matter of replacing one with another.
Either one works well for me. I have a preference for the 21st but I don’t mind waiting until the 28th if that works out better for everyone. I 100% agree with not pushing it to August.
Also thank you again for running the club on this episode and posting all the threads. And congrats to everyone else who finished this episode
I’m all for starting July 21st and get some progress into episode 4. The last week of episode 3 was short enough that, for me at least, already felt like sort of a break.
I don’t really mind if we want to start later, though…
Thanks for the feedback c: OP is updated with the new info, Episode 4 starts on July 21.
How’s everyone feeling on pace? This one is a bit longer than eps 2 and 3, about 30k characters more, so that means at least 9 weeks but potentially 10. If we want to make it 8 weeks we’d need to increase it to ~27.5k to reach comfortably, but there’s really no need to do so if we don’t mind this episode taking longer.
As always, I bring up pace periodically just to have a feel for how everyone is feeling so far to make tweaks along the way for a better experience if needed, in case there has been a general improvement and a different pace would fit better. Personally I don’t mind the 25k again as I’m reading a lot on the side, so feel completely free to give raw, honest feedback. In any case by default I’ve set the pace to the usual 25k per week, which unless we decide otherwise, will be the official pace for this episode too.
I think keeping pace the same is fine for this one. Similar to you, I have quite a lot of other reading going on (and three other clubs I will be managing), so keeping the reading pace the same here would help keep that manageable.
I’m also still playing catch-up a bit from all my travelling the last couple of weeks.
