8. The Introducer:
Indeed, many of us have taken on this role at some point or other, but most of us grow out of it. However, some brave souls take up the mantle and continue to show the ropes to new members of the forums, responding to their introductory posts, linking various FAQ’s, guides, SRS information, and more recently level 60 posts/threads. The Introducers have a notepad document saved on their desktop, containing a template post which they can tailor to the user in question with a lightning fast speed rivalling Thor himself. May include gifs, references to the crabigator cult. If you spend enough time on the forums, you may spot that magical moment when an Introducer comes online, and suddenly every introduction post in Campfire is headed by the avatar of that same user.

9. The Student:
Usually in university or college, though sometimes even in high school, this user is crazy enough to learn Japanese outside of any formal program in addition to their main field of study. Usually slow and consistent, but can have large break periods which oddly coincide with exam periods and deadlines. Has notably faster progress out of term. Will probably moan quite a lot about their student life on the forums.

I guess I’d also also be The Vacationer. I was so happy to get into “Hell”… in April 2014. Now I finally made it back to Hell in July 2019. Several resets and 2000+ review cues (and myself) to blame.

I’m guessing these two would be the closest matches for me(or at least that’s how I perceive it, no idea what anyone else thinks). They’re surprisingly accurate too!

I would just like to say that I resemble your remark.

This is me except my “vacations” have stretched as long as a year on two occasions. That’s usually due to technical difficulties and then inertia before I start back. However, I do remember the beginning levels. It’s the levels that I stop at before the vacation that I forget.

Perhaps a bit of many of them. Just started, second time posting and probably will not really ever do much of this, tons of script installed (it really does make it so much better, though), free user (is there really that much of a difference? It already feels great, the most complete resource I’m using at the moment), I’ve also been using many different apps at the same time (I ditch one or two every week as I realize which ones feel better for me, though). Hopefully I won’t quit next month. I’ve really been enjoying this “Memorize all the Kanji first” approach, which is quite different from the regular text book private lessons I’ve had in the past.

Well that advert was slightly surreal and a bit creepy

One from the UK that gives a similar WTF feeling:

Only the first three levels are free so people can try the service, so you have to buy a sub to continue with the items of level 4 and beyond.

I’m probably somewhere between 5 and 2.

We shall see where will I end up.

Thank you! Without that one, I would not be able to fit in any category. :joy: Now I feel like I belong again. :green_heart:
