I am ok with skipping a week too! I started catching up thanks to @Lisaveeta’s Listening Every Day Challenge, but fell off for a week. I am back to listening as of today. Thank you @WeepingWeeb for steering this 4989 ship !
Episode 60
I’m starting to think that listening to each episode twice isn’t always giving me as much extra understanding as before, and I might stop doing so. Obviously,I’m happy to rewind a bit and listen over to a section where I’ve missed something.
And then there’s this week’s 私変わってのコーナー. Where I heard her say パクチー, and with no context, decided she was saying “packaged cheese”. It made the recipes she described sound…interesting. On the second listen I caught her say “cilantro” and it made much more sense!
@WeepingWeeb I’ve been meaning to ask - it must be a pain running a club you’re not participating in. (Apologies if you are but I think you said you were dropping it a while back.)
Would you like me to take it over? I might need some tips on how to format things/ post the links. Also I’m going to be overseas for the next 2 weeks…
Ah I don’t mind really, I try to listen occasionally but its somewhat above my level so it pretty much goes in one ear and out the other lmao but it doesn’t bother me running the club.
If you’re interested though I don’t mind if you’d like to take over, and any time you’re away or anything I can post or whatever but its up to you, as I said it doesn’t bother me at all!
All good! I probably don’t need another club to run (I think I’m running 3 book clubs now but it might be 4…). If it does get too much, let me know.
When I first started listening it was about 2+ years ago and definitely too hard. I was surprised when the club started and I came back to it, it was so much easier to understand.

I finished this episode today but could do with going over the middle bit where she’s talking about various foods! I feel I had another comment here but have forgotten it.
I completely get what she was talking about when she talked about people not moving out of the way. But I wonder if when the school group turned up and she commented, the teacher thought she meant what I would have meant, which is “oh god, now there’s a load of schoolkids here”!
