I already own Let’s Go Pikachu so I think I’ll join this club! Now to see if another month of vocabulary and kanji decks will make me brave enough to pick kanji over kana mode 
I’m very familiar with Pokemon, but it may be too much at my reading level.

I’m afraid I’ve played first gen to death already and won’t be joining the game club, but I hope y’all have loads of fun. I’ll be spying on weekly threads to see everybody’s favorite teams

I’ve also played gen 1 way too many times, so I decided to use a randomizer for this playthrough. I think my team might look a bit different from everyone else’s. 
This makes it sound like your starter could potentially evolve into a magikarp, which would be absolutely amazing
There are soooo many options. Two I used were “evolutions always match at least one type” and “evolutions must have a higher base state total.” Things can definitely still go haywire though. When I tested the rom it generated, my starter was a Seedot who only knew Bide and Harden.
I too have played gen 1 (most of the gens, really) countless times. 
I almost always play with personalized Nuzlocke rules, since they force me to use different pokemon each time. (Basic Nuzlocke rules, for anyone not familiar, are to only catch the first pokemon you see in each new area, and if one of your pokemon faints it has to either be released or permanently boxed. I usually set a variety of other rules beyond that, to make things more interesting.)
I was thinking about doing a nuzlocke since I’ve never done one before 
I was contemplating doing this too. It’s great to not be the only one considering this The same for doing a nuzlocke 
Nuzlockes are a lot of fun! I did one in Yellow (where my Pikachu died early on lol) and one in Crystal and have fond memories of both.
Personally I am doing a poison type mono run in Green since it’s another kind of challenge I had never done before!

that is kind of how I played my Radical Red runs, pick a random starter and only be able to catch pokemon of its types, nuzlocke style. Never got far but had fun with it
I’m thinking of imposing a “no final evolution” rule on my gameplay.
The basic idea is that I can only use Pokemon that are able to evolve, but must not evolve them into their final form. If I’m not paying attention and I evolve a Pokemon to its final form, it’s going into the PC. (Too bad しんかのきせき doesn’t exist yet. Looks like I’ll be using the かわらずのいし.)
This is a Japanese learning forum. Do a godan run: the first kana of the pokemon names have to be in the same column.
where does the first き in しんかのきせき come from? Because stone is either せき or いし.
Prepost edit: I just looked the particular item up on bulbapedia. The きせき part is a pun apparently. It can mean either stone or miracle according to bulbapedia.

I watched someone playing FRLG in japanase and changed my mind. I’m sure I’ll get tired of reading this full kana pixelated font and end up just skipping text. I’m playing Let’s go.
I’m undecided if I’m in the mood for a Pokemon replay enough to join in, but I’ll be considering it. Does seem like a fun club since we’ll have our own teams and whatnot. If I play I’ll be on one of the originals on an actual Gameboy (Advance).
