Ack, that’s cold water. Spear fishing may not have been the best idea, imagine if the water had a strong current to it, might have been sucked away and game overed. But yeah if we’re soaked it’s better to wait for the clothes to dry out I think.
Yay we’re alive! I didn’t even think of spear fishing that was an interesting idea
Did we already have a fire going from before? We’ve definitely got to get naked and either find dry clothes or wait for ours to dry. Wet clothes in freezing weather would definitely be a game over
It seems we do have some good survival skills - we made a lance and the plan is to spear a fish! No hook or bait needed. But disaster strikes, we slip on a rock and land in the water, eek Our boots and trousers are soaked - let’s get dry and quick

I think it’s a bad idea to eat something you’re not sure about. By the way, didn’t we just get a fish? I would rather look for another fish than eat a plant that may or may not be safe.
Did we get a fish? I didn’t get that, but maybe with all the excitement of falling in I missed it! So far I just understood we spent a lot of time drying out our clothes and boots.
I agree, we can survive for a while without food as long as we have water. Eating strange bright plants rarely ends well…
Brrrr… we get our wet boots and pants off and dry off. Chattering away we manage to make a fire to dry everything out and cuddle up close to the warmth. Eventually we manage to get everything thoroughly dried out. We wander about for a while feeling hungry. Some bright red trumpet shaped filters catch or eye. Didn’t we read about those? Maybe they’re edible? But we just have a haze of life facts rattling around in our heads. It’s not like we’re going to get filled up on flower petals anyway.
Let’s move on and see what else we can find

I like the idea of cleaning the blood with water, but what if the wound gets infected further (due to parasites etc in the river)?
But are we going to DIY the bandage? I think either way, wrapping the wound could be better? I’m not very sure about this though, so I’ll leave it to ya’ll.
I’m not sure either. An open wound sounds like an even higher infection risk than drinking something (at least there’s stomach acid to neutralise a bit) So I agree, a bandage sounds like a good start. Maybe we get an option later to clean it with water after we boil the water for drinking.
We walk further on, trying to keep our thoughts away from the yummy looking flowers (we must be hungry!). Something catches your eye - it’s a fox! Watching it, you walk slowly around the rocks. ooops! you trip and land on a sharp rock, and suddenly there’s quite a big cut on the palm of your hand. Argh… what to do. Well, it’s bleeding badly enough, it’s better to put some pressure on and bandage it up.

Congratulations. You and the members of our party have won the Survival Escape Game 極寒の雪山を脱出せよ Book club!!!
We had a 100% survival rate when we first won at Stage F (great, but not besting the record 120% rate of Book 1!), then in the dream sequence that took us half a year longer to complete up to now, we lost @Otoko68 in a blizzard and @soggyboy went off piste snowboarding. After we bow our heads for a minute of silence recognising their contributions to our survival, the team celebrates with hot cocoa and a round of hugs. Thanks everyone for participating!!!
Here is your trophy!
And you can now use the official survival escape game logo where ever book club currency is accepted!
The poll in stage Z is a decoy, in order not to spoil the ending for other members before they read this week’s scenes! So please discuss our heroic win under the “decision” drop down until all 4 surviving crew have confirmed they made it to the sheep pen!
In the meantime, please enjoy reading additional scenes, featuring “who’s who in the Andes” (scene 108), “best of the Andes animal kingdom” (scene 109), and the gruesome but I couldn’t look away “lost in the Andes: how they survived” (scene 110).
(not direct translations )
After reading 110, I had some questions as I couldn’t understand how they both survived the second story. There’s a recent film for the first story (that I later rememered prath mentioned earlier in our journey), and also a film of the latter.
You did it!! I seem to have snowboarded off course there. I might pick this book up again sometime for some solo exploration though, it’s fun to really check out all the routes and read the info pages.
Congrats everyone! It looks like the whole crew made it to the stage and discovered our heroic win thanks so much for your stamina, it’s been a lot of fun!
I’m working on a post on the main club thread to kick off the discussion about when to start the next book, so grab your hot cocoa and make your way over there
(sorry shuly for setting expectations so fantastically poorly!)
