First reading session with my Prefectures book I want to finish today:
35 min - 6 pages - 1200 characters - 1 source
This is quite a slow read for me, I think since it’s mostly kana and each entry about the prefecture discusses random foods, nature, or customs it takes a bit more puzzling than usual.
So this challenge is giving me a fun way to zoom through it and finally finish it!

Man, I’m so jealous of those who aren’t still battling 90°F+ temps. 
I tried sitting outside yesterday to read, and nope; I probably only lasted 20 minutes.

I think I actually got pretty lucky picking this as my first VN out of the grab bag of easier VNs rated on jpdb. The other low level one’s I’ve read since then were either complete moe fluff or adjacent to ecchi 
This one is a cute short yuri story with full voice acting, was easy to text hook, really pretty almost watercolor style art, and nice music (may be biased as a pianist). It is actually harder than I remembered! I’m impressed that I made it through it when I did, considering I’d only been reading for a few months! One of the characters thinks to herself in a more abstract or literary way with lots of metaphors and counterfactuals, which meant I still felt like I got a decent bit out of it on rereading it.
Highly recommend if you want a short VN to dip your toes in the water and are worried about not liking some of the less savory aspects of VN writing that show up in a lot of the other easy ones people recommend

On the other hand I’m jealous of you guys that got more than two weeks of summer! It’s 45F at the moment and even with three layers of clothes, a blanket, and handwarmers in my pockets, I’m still shivering

That sounds so delightful. Is there a way to read that on mobile? I have no idea about VNs!

I have only just noticed this thread. I’m on call tomorrow, but if not called up, I have some time (and don’t have any Monday) so I’ll aim to participate if able.
I’ll probably just do from when I wake up till when I sleep. Main target will be finishing off a couple of outstanding book clubs - 紡ぐ乙女と大正の月 and 魔女の宅急便, plus the grammar dictionary. If able, I’ll also see about finishing 変な家 ahead of schedule.

Happened to notice this thread just today. What a great push for reading through one more chapter of the book I’m currently reading, 星界の紋章〈1〉帝国の王女 | L38??.
This book is ridiculously hard for me still. I read chapter 6 (22 physical pages, 10923 characters) in about four hours.
かつてアーヴは、八つの〈閉じた門〉を腹に収めた巨船アブリアル──むろん、帝室の姓はこの船名に由来する──に乗って、宇宙をさすらう武装商人だった。
商人といっても、いつ交易相手と出会えるかわからない状況では、食料や日用品を輸入に頼るのは、あまり賢明とはいえない。じじつ、日常に必要なものは船内で生産していた。彼らが外部からあがない、その対価とする主なものは、情報だった。
各人類世界の歴史、技術情報、科学論文、芸術作品──すべてが商品となった。十数光年、ときには数十光年の虚無で隔てられた人類社会は遠くにいる同胞たちの情報を渇望しており、都市船アブリアルは彼らをつなぐ、不確実だが唯一の細い糸だった。

やがて、人類社会の科学の精髄を蒐集したアーヴは、平面宇宙航行理論を確立する。
アーヴはある星系に腰を据え、〈門〉を開く実験をはじめた。
そして、五〇年以上の歳月をかけて成功したとき、アーヴはこの技術を独占することを決意する。
Wasn’t quite feeling ヤニ吸う, so decided to open up コンビニ人間 for the first time in… a while.
I don’t particularly care for this book, but I am way too far in and it is way too short for me to not finish it at this point It’s only about 60k characters long, so like realistically I could finish it today… but I don’t think I really want to

Those were my 24 hours! 
Was very fun. I managed to read for a little over 5 hours, finished off 2 half-read manga, and the first chapter of volume 1 of skip beat.
