Out of curiosity, how does one count that? (outside of counting the characters one by one )
Certain readers, like ttsu for example, have built in character trackers.
Like @hotdogsuplex said, some e-readers, browser readers, or VNs provide character counts instead of page counts. When I read manga or physical books, I only count pages. But when I read using ttsu, it only gives me a character count and percentage at the bottom of the screen. I added them both to the goals list for those whose reading mediums provide one but not the other.
If you counted characters one-by-one, however, I would be extremely impressed 
Next step: smash the time goal by reading for 43 hours in a 24 hour period.
I couldn’t participate in the last readathon due to other commitments, but I’m excited to join this one! I’m not sure what I’m going to read yet. If I’ve finished the book I’m currently on, then I’ll probably go for この嘘がばれないうちに, since it’s due back at the library on the 22nd.

Ooh, this sounds so fun! I will see if I can manage to join in. I think I will try for Sunday or Monday, and my goal will be to read in a variety of Autumn-appropriate places, same as @taiyousea! That includes my yard, parks, coffeeshops, comfy couch or armchair at home with a hot mug of something nearby …

I’m behind on most book clubs so I’m being boring and setting some catching up as my goals.
Last time I read 100 pages. This will be hindered by 軌跡 being counted in characters instead of pages, so I’m not fussing over trying to beat it.
I’m not currently aiming to beat 10 sources as my time is probably better spent focusing on the four above, but if I do finish them with motivation/time/energy to spare, I’ve 11 other books ongoing on Natively I could make a bit of progress on.
I originally wasn’t planning on joining in, but I like to finish the calendar year without being mid-volume in anything I’m reading, and I have a few volumes I started early this year that I’ve barely made progress in and don’t want to have looming over me come mid-December.
Planned reads:
I’m over halfway through with about 80 pages remaining. There’s no furigana, but I know a lot of the kanji/vocabulary and have Mokuro for ease of lookups.
Goal: 80 pages.
Estimated time: Maybe an hour?
Only about a quarter of the way through, but the series isn’t too difficult even without kanji. Getting through 80 pages shouldn’t be too painful.

Even though I planned to read one volume per month of this very-long series, I’ve only completed one whole volume so far this year…
The volume I’m on has two complete cases and the first chapter of a case. I plan to read one case this weekend, save the next case for later, then read the final chapter of the volume in December.
The next case should be about 62 pages.
Goal: 62 pages.
Estimated time: Maybe two hours? But previewing the next case, it looks like it may take a little longer than that.
I originally planned to read two to four scenes per month, but haven’t kept up with it. Pages are generally sparse on text, so even without furigana, it shouldn’t be difficult to make some good progress. I’d be nice to get through about 100 pages.
Goal: About 100 pages.
Estimated time: 30 to 60 minutes.

This is the main one I’d like to get through, but I think if I start with it, it will crush my ability to make progress in anything else for the day…
I have one longer chapter and then two shorter chapters left. I’ll focus on completing the longer chapter.

I started this one thinking there would be a crossover chapter in something else I was reading, but it was only a one-page crossover artwork.
After two chapters, this volume didn’t capture my interest, but I do want to give it a fair chance.
I’ll focus on reading a single chapter for now.

Estimated time: One hour.
Total estimated reading time: 8 hours
Likely I won’t complete all my planned reading, but if I can complete at least one chapter for each series, I’ll be fine with that.
I normally (try to) complete my heavier book club reading on Saturday, but if I’m readathoning on Saturday, the book clubs may get pushed out to Sunday.
I’ve a bad track record with challenges but if it’s just one at I should be able to do it! 
The only day I have mostly free this weekend is Friday - so far - but it looks like that might actually become Sunday due to a change in work shifts.
I’ll be participating either Friday 20 or Sunday 22 accordingly, will update.
