I’ve been writing down my times in my start post and I’m close to three hours now!
My first two entries are my favorites… 40 minutes of reading よつばと! = 65 pages … 40 minutes of ダンジョン飯 = 5 pages

It’s been fun watching everyone’s progress throughout the weekend, and now I finally have some time to participate myself yay 
My 24 hours will be from 8pm Sunday - 8pm Monday EST, if that’s not too late!
goal: finish かがみの孤城 <下>
My comprehension has gotten miles better since reading 上 ages ago and it’s not a difficult book, so I think I can put away a good number of pages. Only regret is that it’s a physical copy, so there’ll be no character counting.

Results
Comfy hammock was not the best choice, almost ended up taking a nap lol. Went to a nice little coffee shop after and sat there for a bit too. Concentration was not there that day and things also ended up being a bit more hectic than I expected so I didn’t end up meeting my goals. Overall read for 4 hours and 6 minutes totalling in at 104 pages. Made it just a little over half way through my book.

Results! I didn’t make it all the way through to Level 2 on Tadoku (there are sooooo many Level 0 books to get through on the way!), but I did read for 255 minutes. And I feel a lot more comfortable with reading than I did when I started, so all in all, I consider it a success.

Thoughts about this challenge:
Compared to the summer challenge my total page count was lower, but I actually feel like I did better this time. During the summer event I read three manga levels 16, 17, and 20, and this time I read level 21, 24, 25, 31, and a level 25 book. At the end of the summer challenge I felt completely drained mentally, this time I never felt any mental exhaustion throughout the day, only the occasional boredom. Then there’s the fact that I read all of ゆるキャン (lv 25) in one day. Previously the only volumes that I’d read in one day were 小さい森のオオカミちゃん and よつばと, and there was also all but one chapter of Flying Witch 2.
These results make me really happy. Recently I’ve had the same reading schedule every day so I felt like I haven’t been improving, but this just proved all of that wrong. And to think that all of this happened in just three months. I plan to start shifting my focus to novels and higher level manga, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do during the winter challenge.
So @taiyousea thank you for creating these challenges. Your idea has given me a lot of encouragement and rekindled my excitement

I’m about to get started! Like I said before, I’ve picked up the book 私の夫は冷凍庫に眠っている | L28 to start fresh and read as far into as a I can. It’s 11pm EST here, so I’ll get in a few hours tonight before bed and then pick it back up tomorrow. I think I’m likely not going to be able to do more after ~8pm tomorrow anyway, but we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully friends don’t try to drag me into Splatoon too much 
I’m gunning for a lot of characters and seeing how much of a book I can manage, but at least as of now I think I’ll throw on a timer to be more precise about when exactly I’m actively reading and get times from that that won’t be rough estimates full of breaks. We’ll see if I feel like sticking through with that, though.

I didn’t even read for that much time but brain is dead tired already. Here are my final results:
Time read:
Total character count: 25334.
My reading speed is hilariously slow in this VN … 91 characters per minute 
It also didn’t help that for the last hour I was re-starting from the beginning to get to a different ending, so I spent quite a bit of time just waiting for the game in skip mode to reach an unread section.
But at least I completed my objective of reaching the first ending at the end of chapter 6, and managed to get a bunch of the bad endings too!

Okay, I got off work, got food, helped with the housekeeping some, went to a concert I accidentally found on the way home from work and then completed a work survey. Had weed seltzer and got sooooo high 
(there’s barely any thc and it tasted kinda bad). I think I am officially… ready to start the reading clock. As mentioned before my targets are 変な家 and book 3 of おチビがうちにやってきた. If I finish both I might try some of bookworm again? I don’t know exact character counts so I’ll probably just keep track of time and pages read. Good to have a challenge to try. よし!

This was a fun challenge! I got four hours reading since starting yesterday and 44 pages, which for me is about a weeks worth of focused Japanese reading. I ended up being sick this weekend and actually was able to read more than expected because my family let me hide in a room and left me alone for a while. My goal was to read as much of Yotsuba vol 3 as I could.

I’ve never tracked pages before, so this is a new metric for me. 12 hours in one day is a new record for me without my brain exploding. I stayed up a couple hours after making my final post, but my brain tired of kanji before it completely tired out (but I’m on schedule to be on time for my Monday things! Yay)
I wish I participated in the Summer challenge, but I was too dedicated to reviews back then. Now I can play catch up.

I also slept 12 hours afterwards…and I didn’t do much yesterday except read, eat, use the bathroom, and tell my husband that I’m trying to read as much as possible so please save world ending antics for after my 24 hour period is over…

Ok, about to go to bed for the night. I managed 4 hours of reading this novel so far (timed closely just when I was actively reading), and read through 30,000 characters, putting me pretty much exactly 1/3 through this book. 7500 char/hour isn’t great but it isn’t awful – I think I started slow and sped up a little over time. Happy to say I like the book so far.
If tomorrow goes the way it should, I think I’ll manage an amount of reading I can be happy enough with

Turns out I woke up early enough to read for another 55 minutes before the 24-hour period was up. Now I’m done for real though. The extra time was enough to read 206 pages of the Gravity Daze 2 manga.
Anyway, summing up my reading…
Seems like I read for 549 minutes, which is 9 hours and 9 minutes. In that time I read about 108400 characters of two short visual novels (starting and finishing both during the challenge period) and also partially from a much longer one, 71 pages of a light novel, and 206 manga pages (277 pages if adding up both the manga and light novel reading).
