decision

I’m gonna investigate (71), because
…I dunno if we have radar and sensors like they discussed, but I didn’t see them say anything except “rich uncle”(?!)
… I’m a curious person, and I doubt it could make things worse… For example, if hammerhead sharks were circling, and we had been head-butted…
…Whatever should the boat and woke me up might be land!!! And with tides changing as they do, even if it’s near land at the moment, it might not be if I go back to sleep before poking around…
… And because my “bird buddy” is back, and I think we could become BFFs!!

I’m not too fussed on checking what it is since I feel like if it was bad we couldn’t do anything about it anyway, or our kid panics and topples over or something lolol

decision

It did say that we should get sleep, but I feel like something hitting our boat is worthy of investigation.

Then again if it’s pitch black out we probably won’t see anything… except maybe we might see phosphorescence… :sparkles:

The seabirds and the notice about how to find land had me encouraged, I think we should check what it is in case it’s a seabird flying to the nest :nest_with_eggs: and we can follow it to land :desert_island:

I think we should check too. We can always go back to sleep later.

I’m encouraged about a potential landfall as well! Hopefully we are sensible about it…

Welcome to Stage H of :ocean: :spouting_whale: 太平洋を泳ぎぬけ - Escape from the Pacific Ocean!

We turn in for the night, reflecting on the unfortunate turn of events on our sea voyage.
Too bad uncle isn’t here, he’d know what to do about all these birds we’re seeing

In the middle of the night, something wakes us up, and we figure out something bumped against the bottom of the boat… land? Another turtle? Let’s have a look :crescent_moon: :milky_way:

And I’m back! I got stuck watching cute turtles trying to destroy our boat that the time completely went away, but now I’m back :turtle:

decision

I do not want to make a camp(?) by the pond, its probably not clean water and the info page said to not be around places where there might be insects, and I feel like a hot nice pond is a place for insects.

I vote for the tree. (pls dont be any spiders)

When catching up I also managed to update my 図鑑 quite a bit. (Still not sure to only use katakana or mix with hiragana :grimacing: )

Vocabulary Notes etc

Man! For a moment, I was confused between カメ and サメ!
…サメの背びれ (せびれ dorsal fin)
見渡す (みわたす to look out over, to survey, to glance over WK25 “見see4–渡transit25”)
…オール…oar (katakana is so difficult for me!)
…こぐ (to row, paddle)
浮かび上がる (うかびあがる to rise to the surface; to emerge from obscurity; to stand out against a dark background)
(きし bank, coast, shore N3 Anime Top 9K, News Top 4K)
飛び跳ねる (とびはねる to jump up and down)
凌げる (しのげる to endure “凌endure58”)
水たまり (みずたまり puddle/pool of water)

去る (さる to leave WK20) → 去らされない should not be made to go out ?
避ける (さける to avoid, to dodge WK38) → 避けよう let’s avoid
淡水 (たんすい freshwater WK49 “淡faint49”)
ムカデ (centipede)
サソリ (scorpion)
丸太小屋 (まるたごや log cabin, block house)
…表面 (ひょうめん surface) onに つや(glossy)

Decision

I wouldn’t build a shelter exactly beside the puddle, because it obviously gets wet there. We don’t know whether it’s salt water or freshwater. But it is a good idea to build a shelter near a water source. I think the water is most likely fresh from rainfall…
I would head over to the woods…82へ

Thank you for noting that, pandoravakarianさん. I’ve found that my Autocorrect has the nerve to replace my numbers with random numbers!
…It’s been rather a problem

A small pond sounds like paradise for insects. I don’t want to sleep there and wake up with insect bites all over!

Glad you caught up :star_struck: omg I love your survival adventure 図鑑

I had been thinking of the pond first because I thought having clear sky above us for plane spotting might be good, but then everyone’s comments and the camp info in 64 convinced me … I’m all for forest too :deciduous_tree:

Don’t give in too peer pressure !:woman_gesturing_no:

:joy: WELL, to be fair avoiding standing water, bugs, animals coming to e watering hole, direct sunlight, and making a cool log shelter with wood we find in the shady forest does sound a lot more survivable

I also say not by the puddle, but from the perspective of the puddle must be coming from somewhere and I’m not sure we want to be here to find out what it is :joy:

Heading for the trees sounds like the best bet I don’t want to stay by this little plop of water and get flooded when the tide comes in

Very helpful of you I’ll have to take a look :tada:

I’m just noting as I go cause it helps me remember better doing it manually, also its more a list of words I didn’t know before and I can be like wow what a big list I better get studying :writing_hand: :writing_hand:

if you do use renshuu you can automatically add community lists to your study queue

as they grow/new items are added they will automatically pull into your own study

but also if you don’t want to study them all, you can add them to your own vocab lists just by clicking the little “+” and then add to any vocab list of your own (can also mark things as known as you do lessons - if you did the whole list)

same with the sentences - also you can add a whole sentence to your own list or click on a word in a sentence and then click the “+” and add individual words to your lists/study sessions also

pretty great for a free service

forgot to add current counts 452 vocab and 158 sentences:
