I struggle with 5 books at once never mind 24 (6 of my 11 are textbooks tbf, and 2 novels I haven’t started reading yet as these are for audio book read alongs
)
tbf, at least 15 of them are pretty mothballed rn. I’d put them into a paused section if Natively had one.
I’m actively reading 3 manga, 1 audiobook, and 1 novel along to an audiobook. A third novel is made up of 3 stories and I’ve finished the first story and am on hold for a bit until I finish some other stuff.
Then 4 are bookclub books (including this one), and 3 more are bookclub books that I’ve fallen way behind in but I’m not ready to give up on.
Then I have some manga I started but didn’t finish. I’ll probably finish them at some point, so I don’t want to put them into stopped, but I haven’t made progress on them in a while.
And lastly have 4 books that I’ve started, am planning to finish, but I either got too busy with other books and paused them, or decided they were too much of a chore to read and I’m planning on revisiting them in a few months.
in that case im reading way more than 11
nothing mothballed but haven’t added as started so ha!
life boats -> suits!
Love how this book is turning up conversations about interesting past life experiences (and massive reading piles )
60 seconds dang! A floating life suit sounds amazing
There’s one spot left, get in by Friday!
Sorry, hope I don’t annoy you! I won’t do tags after week 2
I don’t mind being tagged, I had sort of forgotten this week. I’ll try to read tonight and going forward make time for it each weekend. It’s funny with the survival books, they’re not hard reads but because it’s only a few pages a week it’s easier to forget about.
decision
I was a little confused about what we’re picking here but I guess it’s how close to water we want to launch the boat? It’s described like a left or right pick. Since the wind is coming from the left (to the right) I think we should launch on the right side of the ship but if the ships leaning right that would put us under the ship so we should do the other side that puts us farther from the water. I think that’s what it’s asking?
exactly the problem…need more info LOL
it’s ok if we drown…the decision is basically already made so not like your vote is the one killing us off … or is it
I wouldn’t be so sure, sometimes I’ll change my vote depending on how the discussion develops…
Welcome to Stage C of
太平洋を泳ぎぬけ - Escape from the Pacific Ocean!
We decided to abandon ship and not panic But the problem is, after nonchalantly reading the instructions for the lifeboat, the yacht has taken on more water and is listing to one side. Now it is really time to jump ship
and we head to the side of the boat leaning towards the water and hope the wind pushes us away from the yacht fast enough to not get dragged down with it. Hopefully all of us trampling on the low side doesn’t flip it… and pull us and the raft down
well no time to think more, all aboard go! go! go!
See you at scene
(also turn the page and read 16)

decision
really hate that I cannot ask the book questions… like how much medicine do we have, a ton of it or just a few doses?
oh well since it’s a survival book I can only assume it’s trying to kill us and to avoid a whole family guy vomit issue in the boat… probably best to take some medicine now it is stormy and all (but could go either way) cuz arg…how much is there -
decision
Don’t take medicine you don’t need!
Also iirc, seasickness medicine can cause drowsiness, which would be bad if we fell asleep.
But I also agree with @shuly that my decision could be swayed by more information. How many pills do we have, are we prone to motion sickness, when was the last time we ate?
I’m going to assume that if we didn’t need seasickness meds to be on the yacht in the first place, we should probably wait to take it if the sea gets rougher or we start to feel sick later…
decision
meanwhile we can hope for some good BL in the rescue bag to read while waiting for rescue.
making me rethink my car / travel earthquake kits
Decision
I thought the sea was supposed to be really stormy right now, right? If so I lean towards taking the medicine now so we don’t have to worry about potentially dealing with seasickness while trying to get our stuff in order and away from the sinking yacht.
decision
I think we should take the medicine now, because if we start vomiting that’s a good way to get dehydrated too quickly, and we don’t want that!
decision
I’m thinking take it too. And although in real life I agree, don’t take medicine you don’t need, we just got in a dinky raft… we might need time to get used to it!
Decision
The notes on what’s in the emergency bag say the life boat also contains travel sickness medicine I think, so hopefully even if taking the medicine now doesn’t work out we’ll have an extra dose.
I think you are supposed to take travel sickness medicine before a journey if you know you get sick which I’m sure we will! So I vote take it now just in case
Also soggy makes a good point, the last thing we want is to vomit all our hydration away and have to wait an hour to make fresh water
decision
Id rather take the medicine now, if you get sick and try to take them you might just throw them up
Decision
I agree, so I vote with you.
have a trip coming up (leaving tomorrow) so read ahead (figured votes probably wouldn’t change) … a lot of text with this choice (3 special pages too!!!)
- renshuu is all filled in.
so far up to ~272 vocab items added and ~81 sentences (assuming the counts are right)
but now at least I’m ready for the next decision…
though sadly there are 2 additional choices that I don’t see listed
