Took me far too long to figure out that this soldier who’s standing guard over Ed and Al while they’re in the bathroom is probably Envy in disguise.
Page 132, one thing the English version obscures is that when Lin/Greed snaps at Bradley/Wrath in the third panel, his accent comes back. Never picked up on that before.
Page 135, this balcony that Ed’s repairing, we saw it get damaged all the way back in chapter 46, ten chapters ago. That’s more than two volumes’ worth.
I was surprised too. I had been thinking they’d get marched straight to the prison/dungeon.
And then Al and Mustang’s trails of thoughts about them versus Wrath…
Knowing how Wrath was created, they should be really interested in researching what does 人柱 mean.
At least we and Scar will get some answers next chapter (I hope!).
It is if Hohenheim will not arrive and a dozen other plot lines will not get the priority
The Viz translation makes no particular distinction when the Xingese characters are speaking in Xingese rather than Amestrian (aside from the fact that the speech bubbles are still wider than they are tall, unlike the others, though that’s a bit subtle), so in the English version it’s entirely unclear why Al is so confused at the bottom of page 153.
And no spoilers! With my terrible memory and non-existent observation skills everything is a spoiler
Now I’m gonna think about it for the next two weeks
Also loved this omake about sento and “Well, you’re a terrorist already…”
I’ve been slowly catching up with this volume; about 3 chapters in but here are some random thoughts about the homunculi so far:
Homunculi
The old Greed was killed earlier by father and his 賢者の石 was used on Lin to create a new homunculus, similar to how Wrath was created. The new Greed doesn’t have any memories of the old Greed, but the personalities seem to not be too far off.
However father also killed Gluttony to remake him and promised to retain his memory (so it is possible - maybe a choice to erase previous Greed due to his behaviour?)
Lust apparently cannot be revived, proving that depleting the stone is the best way to kill a homunculus. Though Gluttony was already close to death as he couldn’t regen as well, but was still saved.
Will keep my remaining thoughts for when I’m done with chapter 57!
It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.
