Yeah just one of those … reality checks that you might do while watching some TV show or something… I know someone that gets annoyed at TV shows or things where something say real a good example might be a police show where the computer searches just immediately spits out an answer or magically generates some info from a photo that has zero resolution 2 pixels and somehow they turn that into some ultra HD 16 million resolution and it takes all of 5 seconds and they are 200% improved or someone develops some magical medicine in an hour and someone is all better in 15 min or some other random silly thing that isn’t realistic… they get grumpy about it…but the flying dragons and isekai anime… this is fine - i always just say “just go with it” shees LOL
Yeah this was fun so many meanings for that one… happened to save this one…
sometimes I feel like without lookups, some of these idioms eat my lunch … and I’m reading frieren physical and end up spending too much time lost trying to parse something I’m not supposed to LOL
メトーデ is interesting. It took me a while this arc to realise she was also in the first class mage exams. She is a lot more attractive in her new outfit, she looked a bit odd in that frilly thing she was wearing in the past.
Her attraction to petting kawaii elves is rather surprising. Frieren was unexpectedly accommodating after receiving the grimoire. If she was a few hundred years younger I think we might call that grooming.
Anyway, some cool looking new bad guys, and a dangerous looking situation. Frieren seems super confident but Fern seemed to get away with that one by the skin of her teeth!
There’s a lot to unpack with his emotions around (as far as I understand) his pragmatism to let some people die for the greater good so he could keep killing demons but ultimately it means he lived while so many others died. And this is the nth time he makes the observation that someone else is a good person (who won’t live long) and he’s not a good person
I thought the word 報いwas surprising that it can mean reward or punishment. I’m taking it here he means retribution (for above reasons he thinks he’s a bad person)
Very fitting that Stark stayed with him somehow. Maybe because for so long he struggled with the image he was protecting that town when he actually hadn’t felt he’d done anything.
Can I laugh, that is so funny
Yes I found Methode’s fetish odd. I’m wondering if that will have some connection to something later or if it was as random as it looks now
I love it at the end that Frieren says it’s a first class mage assignment so Fern should manage it so funny. I was confused at the end (last page) when Fern says Frieren pointed, but really she did on the third page from the end lower right, just before Fern made the block Frieren pointed in that direction. Going back to see that helped the rest of the dialogue make sense.
The colour section was so good. Coloured like a gentle watercolour.
This week - great battle scene. Genau’s not having supper because Metode told him it’s unhealthy? In his line of work there seem to be much bigger risks to your health than a late night snack! That slicing wing attack is a cool move. Genau presumably is done for but he seems to be holding up surprisingly well given the wound he sustained!
I was wondering about the 夜食 too. I’ve heard most people in Japan really embrace the “eat until 80% full” idea … so maybe after-dinner snack really is that taboo?
Wow, that was a very satisfying battle! Wasn’t entirely sure about Frieren’s “I’ll just sit here and watch and let you guys take care of business”, but I guess given how powerful Frieren is we need to create a way for her to step out of some of the battles to let the lesser mortals have some fun.
Fern was awesome at the end. Loved that distant attack!
Now to get back to the boys, we left them on a real cliffhanger last week!
